Max Melton-CB-Rutgers

I've been following the draft a long time, never heard of a team meeting with a player this much so early on in the process.

Its not difficult to see why the 49ers would be interested. Melton checks all the boxes to play CB in this defense. Eager and willing tackler, if not somewhat undisciplined. Good size, plays physical, better suited for zone but isn't a huge liability in man either with his size and athleticism. He's definitely a ballhawk, looking constantly to make a play on the ball. Also a monster on special teams, blocked several punts while at Rutgers, would definitely be a welcome contributor on just that aspect alone as a rookie. He could be a very intriguing pickup in the 2nd to 3rd rounds.

I've never heard of that either. Maybe he's exaggerating because he's a fan lol
Versatile inside outside DB. I don't think he's super sticky to play primarily outside. I would love someone that can play a lot of man across from Ward.

but as a day 3 prospect, I'm down with Melton from what I saw.
I do love a DB who's got good calm and patient feet.

He's gonna need some coaching but I can live with using a fourth. Like you, I want a sticky cover guy who allows us to play man when we want to OR have to bring extra pressure.

I need to watch more, overall wasn't super impressed but if they use one of those day 3 picks I'm fine.

I hope they go in the direction of having good man cover guys. Seeing Ward do his thing was pretty awesome

All 3 good options. What about Sarinsill? What round you guys thinking?

I personally don't want sarinsill. He is a slot cb which is Demo's spot. Not too mention Luter and Womack. Drafting Sarinsill will leave us in the same position of needing someone opposite of Ward.

Now if we were to get him in the 5th or later after getting us someone on the outside then whatev. Looks like it will take a day 2 pick and I'll pass on that personally
