He certainly did himself some favors transferring from BYU. His year at CSU was very good and he has some solid tape.
I worry about his role in the NFL. He's very limited as an in line blocker. He is undersized. Height is 21st percentile, weight is 15th percentile. I'm not sure he gets on the field much in two tight end sets where he is being asked to block. I worry about his release from the line, having to chip NFL edge players, being faced with press coverage from linebackers and safeties. He is much better lined up in the slot. But his 10 and 40 yard times were the slowest at the combine for the position despite him being one of the lighter guys. He gets rumbling upfield at times, but I don't see anything too dynamic. So at the NFL level, he doesnt seem like a scary weapon from the slot either. He will also turn 24 before the draft and is one of the older prospects in the class, so perhaps has less development potential.
Now the saving grace is his hands. He has the highlight reel catches. Including at the combine where he almost skipped his last rep and then made the first ever one handed catch while holding another ball during the drill. Has big bear mitts the are evident on tape and measure accordingly (10 1/4 - 70th percentile). He is able to pluck throws over the middle and is not just a big body catcher. Decent arm length gives him a nice catch radius. Showed good awareness. Seems to come through in the big moments. Had four 4th quarter touchdowns last year. He's someone that is going to build trust with the QB.
Ultimately, he projects as a TE3 to me, especially in a pass heavy offense. He needs to be running routes at a high percentage of his snaps. I think with some development, he has a chance to be a Tyler Conklin type player. Sort of see some Brevin Jordan in him as well, but Jordan is actually younger than Holker despite playing 3 years in the league.
The other thing floating around is that Holker could be a FB convert. He had a nice touchdown run at CSU, but otherwise just one other carry in his college career. I dont see any impressive rushing stats from high school either. So its mostly conjecture on him being small for a TE and being a good run blocker in space. But seeing as the 49ers use FB, its relevant to his projection.

love to see my colorado state guys getting love. I think he is a good choice as a successor to Juice. Bring him in to compete with our current TEs and see what he has. Then eventually take over as FB. We also need a good backup for Juice in case he ever misses time. We have gotten lucky that he hasnt missed any games

I like Jaheim Bell as a Juice replacement
