Draft Grades

If we didn't have Green I'd have very little hope for it going forward. It's the biggest issue on the team by a mile, especially with all the impact guys as free agents.

Oh, I wasn't proposing drafting someone instead of green, but rather to use what we acquired in the trade down to maneuver around. I agree, Green is going to have to develop into a starting corner.

Got ya. Well if they could've gotten all of them that would've been ideal.
This post definitely aged well. Nice work

2024 NFL Draft Grade: 49ers Overall (B)
Round 1, No. 31 overall: Ricky Pearsall, WR, Florida (B)
Round 2, No. 64 overall: Renardo Green, CB, Florida State (C+)
Round 3, No. 86 overall: Dominick Puni, OL, Kansas (A)
Round 4, No. 124 overall: Malik Mustapha, S, Wake Forest (B+)
Round 4, No. 129: Isaac Guerendo, RB, Louisville (A)
Round 4, No. 135: Jacob Cowing, WR, Arizona (B)
Round 6, No. 215 overall: Jarrett Kingston, G, USC (B+)
Round 7, No. 251 overall: Tatum Bethune, LB, Florida State (B)

Overall it was a good draft with contributions throughout. Pearsall is finally trending up and provides insurance for a possible slow Aiyuk ramp up as well as for the likely departure of Deebo after 2025. Green, Puni & Mustapha are set as starters in 2025 and beyond. Guerendo looks like he could lock up the #2 with Mason at #3 (likely resign since he is a restricted free agent). Cowing looks ok at punt returner so the question will be if he can get snaps at WR. Kingston did not get snaps in Carolina so he must not be showing much. Bethune played as expected as a special teamer. If all of these guys show marked improvement in 2025 we could be calling this an "A" draft at the end of the 2025 season.
