2025 Draft Prospect Watch List and Discussion

lol why don't you use the same position? It's Cooper DeJean. Great DB who did play on the outside in the NFL… who plays in the nickel in the NFL.

Or we can play devils advocate. Peter Skoronski, played OT in college BUT everyone knew his best position was in the interior.

I know you and the pundits keep saying this. It may even be true. However, if you watch the tape and look at the numbers his best football came this year while playing on the outside.

His arm length is an 1/8 of an inch shorter than All Pro Trent McDuffie who was moved to the outside this year. Same height/weight as well. His arm is about 3/4 of an inch shorter than All Pro Derrick Stingley who plays on the outside.

I definitely wouldn't pass on a top CB because of Lenoir. Especially since he, Barron and Green would be able to play any of the positions.

I disagree his best football was on the outside. McDuffie actually played man (and press) in college. Same with Stingley. Also his arm length is a 1" shorter than Stingley (30" 5/8 vs 29" 5/8).

And again, you refuse to look at SF their draft tendencies and thresholds at those positions. Ain't just me man. They don't value CB super high. They've always been able to find scheme fit guys. They don't draft short armed CBs, especially with the intentions to put them outside.

Say whatever you want about Lenior. They love him and paid him. He's also best served inside. I think Barron is a quality prospect. He will be at his best inside imo. I highly doubt he or any CB will be the pick at 11. Would be completely outside of their norms…Good bad whatever that's just how they operate.

All of this is about who I want. Not who I expect them to pick. I do agree its not how they operate. I also don't expect us to draft him. I just think they should. When I talk about prospects I like, I do look at scheme fit and personnel fit I don't however pick a player to like based on what I expect them to draft. I like to form my own opinions on prospects. I definitely expect them to draft DL at 11. We'll see how it all plays out.

I didn't use those dudes because I didn't dive into them during their drafts. I did dive into JJ though. So I was able to speak on that more than the other two you mentioned

We gave them mid level starter money lol. Show me all the high end draft picks spent at CB? Show me all the sub 30" arms they've invested in?

we find scheme fit CBs whether it's in FA or deeper in drafts.

barrows this morning talking about CBs and how it's so unlikely that they go that direction in the 1st or 2nd.

My man, you're trying to hard to debate this one.

Richard Sherman signed for 3 years, 39 million.

In 2018 the highest paid CB was Josh Norman at 16 million. Sherman's 13 million salary was 5th highest in the league

Then when he left we signed Charvarius Ward for 3 years and 42 million. The 14 mil salary was 11th highest in 2022. Jaire Alexander was the highest paid CB at 21 million

K'Wuann Williams resigned for 9 mil, Jason Verrett signed as a free agent for 5 mil.

So since Shanahan and Lynch have been here they have invested heavily in a true #1 CB.

You just keep making things up to suit your narrative. Neither Sherman or Ward were signed to anything remotely close to "mid level starter" money.

And currently we have Lenoir who doesn't profile as a #1 CB, 2nd year CB Green who is unproven and Tre Brown as the starters at CB.

You keep saying they try to find late round scheme fits and that's fine and dandy except none of them have been any good and two that were we let leave in DJ Reed and Womack

Reynardo Green 2.64
Darrell Luter 5.155
Samuel Womack 5.172
Tariq Castro Fields 6.221
Ambry Thomas 3.102
Deommodore Lenoir 5.172
Tim Harris 6.198
DJ Reed 5.142
Ahkello Witherspoon 3.66

So out of all these late round scheme fits you say we find only one is still on the roster out of 9 guys and only 4 of the 9 made any kind of impact

Aside from Lenoir, Who are these scheme fit guys we have drafted who have made an impact for us?

5 of the 9. Assume you didn't include Luter. He made a big impact in the SB.

i'm just gonna put it on record Travis Hunter is not an elite prospect and he will not have a good pro career.

Featuring Krizay. I'm with you but didn't want to be that guy.

That's fine man lol. you were saying the same thing to me about Membou (or OT in general) earlier. OT isn't gonna be the pick at 11 yada yada yada. Wasn't much nuance on the players…more about the position.

look I think Barron is damn good CB. I like you pick a player based on scheme fit, need, position importance and where they will play in the NFL. Of course I'm gonna tie that all in with the team I root for and how they draft.

like saying he's gonna be McDuffie 2.0 is fine, maybe if he played in KC and with the scheme they have. Might not be McDuffie 2.0 here in SF based on what we do.

I have my opinions on where I see him playing his best football in the NFL. You disagree. All good.

One thing we agree on is they're probably gonna take someone neither of us want

Yep. 95% sure hes the pick. Maybe I have a 5% doubt in my head that they might pick a cornerback. But they pretty much never picked a CB in the first round in their life, so why would they start now?
