I think he's a guard in the NFL.

How many 6'3 tackles have success in the league?

Even Zach Tom and Rashawn Slater are 6'4. Agility and athleticism are great traits but you still need length.

His wingspan should be a non-issue once he measures in

If he's measures in at 6'3" he will be in the 1% as far as height measurements go at OT 😬

6'3" with 34 inch arms is not an issue. 6'3" with 31" arms is a major concern and a guarantee that you'll be playing inside.
The 49ers have consistently lacked that big guy in the middle on defense. I hope they can find a guy at least 320 that can move around and occupy the center of the line. Three hindred pounds isn't big enough anymore in the NFL. They can get locked down or pushed around too easy.

More evidence that DT and CB extremely deep in this class.

Looks like some of our guys were standouts on day 1

Boston College C Drew Kendall

Drew Kendall joined Marcus Wehr as the only two blockers to win a rep against Jordan Phillips today, and Kendall controlled reps. He's on the smaller side (measuring in at 304 pounds), but he's a savvy technician with good play strength and showed out against the field of defensive linemen today.

Phillips looking like someone to we need to have on our radar with our 2nd pick. Joshua Gray looking like a future fan favorite if we don't grab a center in FA.

I will say the same thing this year that I say every year. When you are drafting in the top half of the first round, take the best player available (other than a QB). Drafting for need is how you end up with Solomon Thomas and Javon Kinlaw.

Soloman was considered the BPA and a safe pick.

By whom? NY85?
A lot of online draft guys had him as a top 5 on their big boards.

Josh Norris had him 2
Matt Miller had him 6
NFLDraftBreakdown had him 5
NFL drafrcoutdown had him 4
Rob Rang had him 2
Todd McShay had him 4
Mel Kiper had him 4
Mike Mayock had him 2

So yes a lot of folks had him top 5 and I'm sure most teams did too. Only armchair GMs from 5 years into the future think that was a reach.

I said at the time I thought Thomas should be a 3rd round pick. Had way too much tweener in him at the pro level. I'm not going to pretend I wanted Mahommes at 3 like so many do now. But I did suggest at the time, he was someone I would have loved to trade up in the early to mid 20's to grab - and got laughed at by quite a few people.

IF Starks is available at 11 and we take him, would you be upset? I know the Niners desperately need a Jimmie Ward type and Starks looks spectacular. Probably is that he may be gone..

I think i would but i guess it depends on what we get in free agency. We have bigger needs (OG, OT, DT, Edge) at premium positions and their should be a guy you have a rd 1 grade on sitting their at 11 besides Starks. To me you can get a viable safety in free agency. Every year the safety market is filled with decent safeties, the question just becomes do you want to pay for one.

Yayha Black, DT: big boy with 35" arms

Mike Green 250 lbs. Let's see if it's all water, and/or he keeps his explosiveness at this weight

Donovan Ezeiruaku, 34-1/2" arms helps offset size concerns

Da'Quon Felton, WR is enormous

Membou definitely built like a guard...a 1/4" under 6'4" and 332 lbs..sheesh. but 34" arms.

Jonah Savaiinaea same body type, even longer arms just a tick under 35"

Princely Umanmielen with a great weigh-in; 6'4-3/8" 264 lbs and over 34" arms

Deone Walker, as expected: massive with superb length
