Great QB class

I'd rank it as:

ewers, Texas
sanders, Colorado
Beck, Georgia
ward, Miami
Dart, ole miss

Beck is literally undraftable.

I wouldn't say undraftable, but I would wait till Day 3 to take him if I was the Niners. Regressing this year in a big way, not progressing. I wouldn't be surprised if the Niners do something like that this year.

Rattler seems like a comp
With Deemo getting the bag this year instead of in the offseason, the Niners don't have to draft a CB early this coming draft. Still will be plenty of good options available on day 2 and early on day 3 for them to replace Ward who will likely go elsewhere.
Most likely they go OT or DE with the first pick in the draft. Maybe DT or TE if someone they love is not going to make it to their pick in round 2. Most likely we lose OG Banks and CB Ward, but otherwise the free agents are guys who won't break the bank. Greenlaw is a question mark depending on how well he comes back. Huff is probably gone but they are covered at S. So the draft goes something like this:

Round 1 to 3 - DE, DT, OT, TE
Round 4 to 7 - CB, LB, OG, QB, RB and specialists (KR, PR, Gunner, etc.)

Good calls on the team needs and when they should replace them. We think a lot alike:

I agree; I expect Ward, Banks and Huf to all be gone. I still would like to invest pretty heavily into the corner back position. I doubt we draft safety early, and I wouldn't be surprised if Banks replacement is already on the roster. In fact, I'd guess Spencee Burford is leading the club house for that position.

I'm hoping we land premeir talent at OT, EDGE, CB with first 3 picks. Grab a center and a IDL in the middle rounds.
Under Contract: Deommodore Lenoir, Renardo Green, Darrell Luter
Free Agents: Charvarius Ward, Isaac Yiadom, Rock Ya-Si, Ambry Thomas

The argument for CB early is that you may lose three free agents and Luter has been a magnet for bad luck on special teams. But historically Lynch has not picked CB very early in the draft so I doubt we will see a CB chosen before Round 3 comp. Plus Ward would be the only free agent that would be difficult to resign so my guess is they will fill in with cheap veterans behind Lenoir and Green.

  • Round 2 - Green (2024) (last pick of the round)
  • Round 3 - Thomas (2021), Witherspoon (2017)
  • Round 5 - Luter (2023), Womack (2022), Reed (2018)
  • Round 6 - Harris (2019), Castro-Fields (2022)
Really sad RE: Ward's daughter, but strictly through a football lense, very good and important opportunity to see if Renardo Green can stick outside full time. If we feel that he can, I REALLY like Texas' Jahdae Barron as a nickel corner; i think he fits the niners like a glove. Fiery locker-room leader type attitude, super aggressive and effective against the run, and best inside in zone coverage. There's better round 2 outside corners, but I really like Jahdae.

I had him as a mid round guy last year and thought for sure he was coming out, might've even had him in a mock lol. Will be interesting to see where he goes now.

It's been a historic mistake and the biggest reason they have struggled when it has counted.
3 rd 4 picks
1st josh Simmons OT
2nd davison Igbinosun CB
3rd kyle Kennard DE
3rd jordan burch de/dt
Shemar Stewart needs to be a niner

OKay, I'm in love.

He needs to play more under control, and his production will increase as a result. But wow.

Serious bend and burst for a guy that big. Serious length. Serious strength. Serious motor. I want.

Well that's why they play the game

re-rack:
mid to late firsts
Sanders
ward
nussmeier

2nd-3rd
gabriel
Millroe
dart

4th-7th
ewers
allar
beck
shough
rourke

And each is pretty badly flawed. Might be one of the more weak classes

You mentioned the most important thing……….production. 1.5 sacks? Looks like Tarzan for sure, but how good is he?

His goal right now appears to be "get in backfield and eff s**t up." Wins mostly converting speed to power...you'll see some long arms, dip and rips, or quick wins inside when lined up tighter. He needs to learn to work his hands, and to when to disengage his blocker sooner to come off and make the tackle. Has a bit of a bull in a China shop / wrecking ball play style and so you'll see him on the floor at the feet of the QB more often than you'd like. But he is too strong, too long, and too explosive to not immediately be disruptive in the pass game, and he's solid vs the run. If he maximizes his tools, watch out.
