IMO without getting started at who's who, looking at needs SF has to invest into the trenches.
Needs that the Niners HAVE to fill in the next draft:
1 - DT/NT - Niners are soft up the middle against the run
1a - OT - Need a LT of the future and a RT of the present
2 - EDGE - Need someone to bookend Bosa as a pass rusher and someone who can set the edge as a run defender
3 - CB - Ward, Thomas, Ya-Sin and maybe Luter Jr will be gone next year
4 - C/OG - Need a Center to replace Brendel ASAP and also someone to replace Banks who the Niners will likely let go in FA
5 - FS - Niners need someone who can cover at safety
6- WR - Deebo has lost a step and he costs too much; need a speed WR to take the top off of defenses
7 - QB - Late round developmental QB to give Purdy some competition and the team some cover
8 - LB - Need someone to replace Dre if they can't re-sign him
9 - RB - Mitchell will be cut or traded so they need to add to the RB room.
Your thoughts..................
So everything lol
LOL, what do we think is higher priority? , a staring Tackle, Guard, Center, edge, or DT who can actually stop the run? Then from there what prospects are projected available around our pick and is one clearly above the others at any of those positions etc.
1 - DT/NT: Mason Graham, Michigan (hate that this is even a remote possibility), Dontay Corleone, Cincinnati. DeMonte Capehart, Clemson. Caleb Banks, Florida. Aeneas Peebles, Virginia Tech. Graham can play anywhere. Corleone and Capehart are NT types. Banks and Peebles are pass rush types.
1a - OT: Slim pickings. Will have to get lucky to draft one immediate starter, let alone 2. I like Cameron Williams, Texas. Aireontae Ersery, Minnesota (realistic 1st round pick). Marcus Mbow, Purdue. Charles Grant, William & Mary. Armand Membou, Missouri.
2 - EDGE: Shemar Stewart, Texas A&M (my leading pick for round 1). Donovan Ezeiruaku, Boston College. LT Overton, Alabama. Kyle Kennard, South Carolina. Jasheen Davis, Purdue.
3 - CB. Will be a major need. I hope we get Jahdae Barron, Texas as our 2nd round pick. I also like Will Lee III, Texas A&M.
4 - IOL. We should have taken a center last year. I agree Banks is gone, but I think his replacement is going to have to be someone already on the roster. Not sure we're finding a stud Center in the draft, but we have to at least try - Brendel is not it. I like Jake Slaughter, Florida. Jonah Monheim, USC. Logan Jones, Iowa.
If we can do first 4 rounds something like
1. Shemar Stewart, DE
2. Jahdae Barron, NCB
3. Marcus Mbow, RT
3. DeMonte Capehart, NT
4. Jake Slaughter, OC
It would go a long way toward infusing youth and talent at key positions. Of course, by the time the draft rolls around, i probably got 3 1st rounders in there.
Assuming we arent in range for obvious studs like Abdul Carter, Mason Graham or Will Johnson, I hope we get one of Shemar Stewart, Cameron Williams or Aireontae Ersery with our 1st round pick in the late teens.
For WR, I like Nick Nash SJSU as a late round flyer. I think Aiyuk, Pearsall, Cowing is a pretty fast group.
RB room is not needing anymore draft picks. CMC, Mason, Guerendo is more than fine. Bring someone in as an UDFA if necessary.
