The Mason Graham-DT-Michigan The Dream is Dead!

Not sure if you intentionally mentioned Justin Smith, but he also had 32 inch arms. The lack of length will absolutely be an issue for some teams, but IMO, lacking length is only an issue if a player sucks with his hands ands feet. Graham is very, very good with his hands and feet.

Smith coming out of Mizzou was like 265lbs and was a DE. Crazy transformation for him

Why are people tossing out Donald likenesses with Graham? He's a quality prospect and in a draft that isn't top heavy, will go higher than he would most drafts.

he is not Donald. Aaron had 27.5 sacks 65TFL in 3 yrs while Graham had 9 sacks and 18TFL. Also Mason had 5 star prospects surrounding him while he was there.

big fan of Mason in this draft, folks gotta calm down with the Donald stuff.

For real. People need to stop bringing up Aaron Donald period in draft comps. Donald was an alien, and we'll likely never see another player like him. After he retired, he said he played around 250 to 260 pounds. Dude was fire hydrant made up of only fast-twitch muscle. Let's never comp anyone to him again please.

I like Mason Graham, so please do not try to twist what I'm saying as if I don't want him to be a Niner because I do. But let's keep it real--dude isn't built anything like Donald. He's kind of got that soggy, cornfed build.

Both of you calm down lol. Literally only mentioned him because he was the most dominant DT in the game, potentially of all time and was well under 300 lbs.

In other words, someone being less than 300 lbs isn't a reason to take them off the draft board.
Again, he wrestled at 287 in HIGHSCHOOL, so football weight at 305-310 in NFL is likely.

No one is taking off their board or think he still isn't a home run pick if he makes it to SF.

Donald never played in a wide-9 front

Sigh…

AA wasn't over 300 lbs either and was very tall on top of it. Obviously perfect world we have big boys who can move well and be strong as hell all over but it can be done with guys under 300, just need some fatties on there as well.

I see a lot of sites including the official Wolverines site listing him between 315 to 318 pounds.

Regardless of what he weighed in at the Combine, people need to remember that weight can be gained. lol

Yea, I don't think his weight is an issue at all. Michigan likely exaggerated his playing weight, but I dont think he will have a problem maintaining 300+ lbs if his cut weight as a growing teenager before college and NFL was 287.

I wouldn't draft for size alone, intangibles should be considered as well.

So I guess no Mason Graham? I didn't see the 49ers visiting with him.

If he is there at #11 use him as bait to get a haul in a trade back. We need as many extra picks as we can get. Hell I'd be fine with a 13-15 player draft.

Don't think they would keep all 13-15 players.

2 DL
Edge
LB ( possibly 2 if Dre leaves )
safety
CB
OT
OG/C
WR
TE
possibly RB
There's 11-12 if we trade BA have to add another WR.
These needs can and probably will change after FA.
