Didn't you just say skattebo was an absolute lock and a unicorn and they should trade up into the 1st/2nd for him?

Yeah not top 5 and destroy the rest of our draft

The 49ers are not in a position to trade up for anyone. They need every single pick to continue adding as many young players as possible on both sides of the ball. This roster extremely top heavy and old. Even if they nailed one blue chip talent on the DL, that wouldn't prevent another repeat of the 2024 season. Lynch and Shanny need to add as many young players as possible. Not only potential starting players, but also players that can immediately contribute on special teams as well--something that has gone neglected for too long now.

Simply put, they need another 2024 draft.

This is the correct take.

I'd give up one of our 3rd in a heartbeat to get this dude. Still have a higher end 2nd and 3rd. We don't need to draft 11 players.

go get talented players.

That's right - not worth talking about guys that are unrealistic. Might as well talk about Travis Hunter. He's not dropping to 11 (or 14?) and it's dumb to trade away primo picks to get a guy who could just as easily bust as boom.

So their 11 and comp 3rd to move up a few slots for arguably the best defender in the draft and a position of need vs trading up into the 1st/2nd round to draft a RB that will probably go R4? lol ok

I agree with this. I'd be quicker to trade down to accumulate more top 100 picks then to trade up. That being said, pick 11-14 SHOULD net a prime player at a prime position.

Agree. Been reading up on the DB Barron you like, he seems like he can be a nice chess piece in the secondary
anyone think Kenneth Grant would be good around #11? I didn't watch much and wonder if playing next to Graham made him better. at 6'3, 340, Imagine the beef in the middle playing next to Evan Anderson.

I disagree. This isnt shaping up to be an amazing draft class overall and if you have a shot at getting a true blue chip type prospect like Graham without giving up the farm, you make the move. It's a prospect that fixes the biggest weakness on the defense thus far, one that has existed pretty much ever since Buckner was traded.

You look at most of the contending teams and they have a dominant lineman on the interior DL. Someone like Graham helps to fix the interior run defense while improving the pass rush and helping to give guys like Bosa and Floyd more opportunities at wreaking havoc.

If they lose to the Cardinals and are going to be picking at 10 or 11 then you need to get the best prospect possible as a consolation for a crap season. If you have someone like Graham dropping, or even a Will Johnson, I don't think its a difficult call to use a third rounder to move up a few spots and get a potential gamechanger early.

This is also potentially a pipe dream if Jacksonville jumps on Graham early but if we are on pick 7 and he's still on the board, I think it'd be negligent for Lynch and Co to not at least make an effort to move up for him. You have to at least make the call and see what the price would be. With no QB's draftable in that range, its unlikely to be exorbitant.
If they get a shot at a player like this, a realistic shot where you give up a 3rd and maybe a future 4th or 5th to move up for him, I don't see how you pass.

He could drop to 7 and SF could absolutely trade up to get him. Theres been 3 DT drafted top 10 in the past decade. It's dumb to keep wasting 3rd rd picks on RBs that we just keep cutting in a yr all the same. Go get the blue chip talent if it's feasible.

Ton of upside from what I've read, but needs to refine pass rush. Heard some Jalen Carter comps,
What's the cost to move from 11-5?

One first and a swap

Damn I was hoping a swap and 3 with a future 2 or 4 etc they would have to really love this kid to do that.

What i believe to be the most recent precedent:

12, 34 and 168
for
6 and 81

Jahmyrr Gibbs, RB Sam LaPorta, TE and Owen Papoe, LB
For
Paris Johnson, OT and Tyjae Spears, RB

Pretty steep... a low 1st/high 2nd and a 5th for a mid 3rd
