2025 Draft Class: OL

We never take enough OL in the draft. I always come away hoping for a lucky break or two UDFAs or maybe an old free agent with a year or so left in the tank. OL and DL this year please.

I finally talked myself into Membou at 11…only to see him take his stock into likely being gone before we pick 😒

We definitely have this thing about OL that unless we get our ultimate guy at OT that we tend to just let them slide and try to grab developmental guys with some traits we like. To be fair it has worked in some ways. McKivitz turned into a serviceable starter, especially given his cost and Jaylon Moore just made starter money being our swing T.

Unfortunately this draft feels pretty thin at OT and I'm not sure if Will Campbell would even be worth it if he fell to 11 so if we're looking to bring in guys to replace Trent or Colton, it will be more of the later types we'll have to develop(and quickly)
That's pretty much where I'm at, the medicals on Josh Simmons will be interesting, but I'd rather we didn't go there just in case. We've had some success on Day 3 with OL. To be fair Banks worked out in the end as well so Day 2 is fine as well.
Hollin Pierce and Anthony Belton are day 2 guys who I'd love to draft in Round 3. Take both and you have your bookends.
Jackson Slater IOL Sacramento state on day 3 is guy I hope they think about grabbing. Impressed me at the Senior bowl. Looks like a 49er. I would even think about turning him into a center.

I had been following Connerly all year. I really like him but only after a trade down into the lower end of the 1st. He wasn't stout or elite enough to pick at 11.
We needed to pick an OT last year and got hurt negotiating with Trent. They are cleaning out WR this year and it will be Trent next year. .
Our assistant GM's said we have to pick a tackle high to get what we want. After FA, it's clear we need to trade down to get another 2nd and pick more players to fill more holes. I didn't love a pick at 11 anyways. With the people that left, DT moves up to the greatest need. I like Alexander best for the DT's, so if that happens we'd need to go OT in round 2. I like Charles Grant as the OT that fits us with a tackle body and athleticism. He's a bit raw but we mainly need him in a year. Since he hasn't performed in the senior bowl or combine, he's flown under the radar on mocks and shows up in the 3rd. Others have him as top 50 still on player lists. Our 2nd may be too early but our 3rd may be too late to pick him. I hope we can land him with the extra 2nd we'd get from trading down.

Logan Brown, Charles Grant, Chase Lundt and Carson Vinson, come on down!

Charles Grant is a guy I'm really interested in. I can see Lundt here as a OG, I can't see how he sticks at OT with that size profile.

brown is interesting I don't know much about him

Logan Brown reminds me of Dominic Puni

Same size, same school, played tackle. Athletic and strong.

Id like him in round 3 as a LG.
49er targets:

Grey Zabel – Projections to center are interesting, but he played some LG in college. Quite possible he plays there for a year to get up to speed. Either way I think he has positional versatility and could start at 3 spots. Plus athleticism. Great zone metrics. Looks really adept at combo blocking.

Mbow – Needs to move to OG and put on some mass. I don't rate him as highly as some mocks because he is light in the pants, but he's got high end athleticism for our move blocking scheme.

Wyatt Milum – Got torched in the reps I saw at the Senior Bowl, but I'm going to trust the film and PFF zone grades. Zero sacks in the last 3 years. He takes care of his assignment and has a nasty demeanor. Moves to guard with some pinch tackle ability, but I could see him earning a starting role at LG. If not, high end depth piece.

Logan Brown – Normally stay away from one year starters, but we just pulled Puni from Kansas and theres some crossover to our zone schemes. Has the traits and physical profile. 9.45 RAS score. KS will like the positives. Instant swing tackle. Has work to do, but has the frame and athleticism to play LT at some point.

Charles Grant – I think he needs a redshirt year, but is a quick mover. Has great hands and feet. Potential to be a really good zone tackle.

Clay Webb – Former 5 star recruit. Smooth athlete. Could be a really good zone center.

Connor Colby – Started 50 games at multiple positions for a zone based rushing team. Should be a permanent move to guard at the next level.

Jack Nelson – Possible late round McKivitz clone. Has the physical tools and length to be a zone RT.

This is a pretty deep Oline draft too. I think the 3rd is a good spot for back to back Oline picks.

Belton, Gray and Hollin Pierce are 3 guys I love. Give me big, monster OL and get back to being physical.
