DJ Jones?

There are others, too. How about Adren Key, Jordan Willis, Ronnie Blair, and Arik Armstead (who was largely considered a whiff before Kocurek arrived)? How about getting the most out of guys like Kevin Givens? And let's not forget that he developed others in Detroit, like Ziggy Ansah.
If they just want a pure nose tackle, it's likely that Jamaree Caldwell of Oregon can be had late but you draft someone like Grant intending to use him as a game wrecker inside.
We absolutely need Kenneth Grant! 🙏

This is the right guy to talk about.

Could do a small trade down and still potentially get him.

Accumulate picks no matter what. There is nobody in this first round losing picks over
The more I look at Kenneth Grant the more I like him. That size and quickness is exciting.

Thats such an awful comparison to begin with. Tomlinson is 6'3" and 315, unexceptional athletically in every way. Slow off the line, great at holding his ground and two gapping but that's about it.

Grant is 6'3", 340 with outstanding quickness and a very good first step. He's scheme versatile and can play nose tackle or 3T.

I've seen multiple analysts use that comp
I just don't see SF going this route in the 1st. Guys like Grant aren't their M.O.

I don't disagree the potential is a Dexter Lawrence type of guy though.

Sounds more like a Vita Vea to me.

Searching for the two names brings up some guy on Bleacher Report who is a Raiders blogger. That's it.

It's just a weird comparison. Grant has been considered an athletic freak since getting to Michigan. Some expect him to run the 40 in under 5 seconds. Jim Harbaugh called him a gift from the football gods.

The guy is 6'3" and 340 and has tremendous quickness and explosiveness off the line.

No 330+ lb lineman should be able to do this. That ain't right.

Tomlinson isn't that guy, isn't in the same ballpark as an athlete while being smaller.
^ I think I was conflating dalvin and dexter Lawrence playing style. Grant made Bruce Feldmans athletic freaks list . You've sold me on him

The good news is that no matter where the 49ers pick, there will be prospects that fill a need in the 1st. I'm okay with them going DT, edge, safety or OT and they can land a high quality prospect at at least one of those positions, even if they beat the Cards today.
This guy is a mountain with zero pass-rush technique and that's why he reminds me Javon Kinlaw that never developed technique. Maybe Grant will but if Mason Graham isn't available at our turn I'd just pick Tyler Warren.

I would take out S as a priority need in the first 3 rds. I would take OT, DT, Edge, and C/OG with my first 4 picks. Have to fix the lines on both sides of the ball.
