DJ Jones?

There are others, too. How about Adren Key, Jordan Willis, Ronnie Blair, and Arik Armstead (who was largely considered a whiff before Kocurek arrived)? How about getting the most out of guys like Kevin Givens? And let's not forget that he developed others in Detroit, like Ziggy Ansah.
All meh tbh. IMO they've under delivered given how much they invested into the d line the last 8 years.

im not against Grant. A wall who can take on two offensive linemen frees up the other three guys and would greatly benefit boss. But can he be ever down?

Hell no on Warren. We have too many needs on the lines to take a backup TE in the first rd.

This is the right guy to talk about.

Could do a small trade down and still potentially get him.

Accumulate picks no matter what. There is nobody in this first round losing picks over

Yea trade back get more picks in middle rounds

My fault, misread what you wrote .

It's just a weird comparison. Grant has been considered an athletic freak since getting to Michigan. Some expect him to run the 40 in under 5 seconds. Jim Harbaugh called him a gift from the football gods.

The guy is 6'3" and 340 and has tremendous quickness and explosiveness off the line.

No 330+ lb lineman should be able to do this. That ain't right.

Tomlinson isn't that guy, isn't in the same ballpark as an athlete while being smaller.

I'm not saying Grant isn't an athletic freak. I really really don't care what Jim says about his players. You should know better than to use him as some unbais source

at this point he's more of a 2 down guy, the potential is for sure to be a Dexter Lawrence type of guy. Potential is the key word. Also just based off what SF values at DL, they don't usually go for those 340+lb guys. It's still super early, I think EDGE is more where they will go.

Pretty sure kinlaw was on Feldman's freak list as well

No more athletic freaks. Just good football players.

Probably. Grant seems much more polished than kinlaw ever was. Pass rush repertoire is still a work in progress, but he gets a ton of PDs, collapses the pocket and takes on double teams. All things I think he can come in and do right away here

2nd rd sure. I wouldn't want him in a trade down either.

I keep seeing Dalvin Tomlinson comps and that sounds about right.

I see zero reason why he can't be a three down player. We're talking about someone insanely athletic for his size. I think he's capable of playing one or two gap schemes, can hold up as a nose tackle or as a penetrating 3T. Just on pure effort level he's going to be pain for OLs to deal with.

T'Vondre Sweat had far bigger concerns about his size, conditioning and pass rush ability and all he's done is be a consistent monster for the Titans. In a redraft he'd be going early 1st round.

Ok I will be the Debbie downer here. I agree with NY because who the hell has coach k and this staff ever developed along the line? Bosa came in a pro. We need someone more polished technically. They have really whiffed on the d line picks over the years.

Who'd they whiff on besides Kinlaw?

Really? Solomon Thomas???

I had forgotten that draft was still under Lynch. So I'll give you that. He certainly didn't live up to the hype, but he is still playing football. Too be fair, only 1 DL after Solomon in the first round really surpassed him. So unless you had the first pick of the draft... It really would have been a good draft to move back.

So 1 for 3 in the first round: Kinlaw, Thomas and Bosa. 1 for 3 there. Then DJ Jones with a 6th, Jullian Taylor with a 7th, Kentavius Street with a 4th, Kalia Davis with a 6th. Of which Only Taylor didn't provide real value..which is normal for a 7th rounder.

Lynch is 4 for 7 with DL in the draft if we count Taylor against him.

Yeah, Jim says a lot, lol.

I think the knock on Grant has been balance and short arms? Personally, I don't think he's worth an early first round. Now if we trade back and pick him up in the mid-late 20s and get some picks for our efforts, I'd be a lot more enthusiastic about the choice.

I haven't watched him enough to have a hard opinion. Just going off how they draft, not sure they go DT at 11 who's not an elite level pass rusher yet.

Agree with this as well. Curious what you think after watching him more.

Tyler Warren is who I want! Do love Grant and Graham tho!

So ignore the biggest need on the team, which is quality players on the lines, to get a luxury pick at TE? Lets pray Lynch is smarter than that

Jackson too. Another high pick whiff.

2-TE sets as our base formation would be the change this offense needs and with Kittle/Warren we would run or pass at will.
