He's like 4 months older than Braden Fiske was at the same time last year and I don't think any team in the NFL would give a crap about his age if they could get that guy on their team right now.

I'd take Harmon in the 1st no matter where then Alexander in the 2nd. 49ers need an impact at DT.

dang, you replied too quick. I added:

I agree with Phoenix that I don't think it's a big deal. In fact, the extra years in college are almost like sending a young player to the minor leagues to hone their craft and build their bodies instead of having them do it in the NFL. Not all guys will improve in those aspects once they get into the league. You're basically eliminating that risk at the NFL level and getting a more finished product.

I just look for stuff that translates well to the NFL and what Alexander has is really great hand use. He'll get pressures in the NFL just off of that but he's also pretty athletic for his size and he did well at the Senior Bowl, showing that he can hang with the bigger school guys too.

I think what Saleh and Kocurek would like is that he's versatile enough to be played all over the defensive line. You can move him around similar to a bigger Omenihu.

With all the depth at DT I wouldn't use my first 2 picks there. I'd go Banks or Barron in rd 1, then Alexander or Grant in rd 2. Several nose tackles like West will likely be available in rds 4 and 5.
I feel this pick happening! This regime always gets guys from the Senior Bowl and nobody improved their stock more thank him and Zabel. I said it then and I'll say it again; he was even better than Walter Nolen that week.

If we can somehow get Carson and Darius today

Looks like this is the route we might take.

Alexander due to his athleticism is another guy that could be moved up and down the DL. I think that versatility is a big deal for Saleh and Kocurek.

If you get 5-6 high quality years out of him nobody will care about his age on draft day.
Really surprised we didn't go this direction.
