2025 Draft Class: IDL

Bob McGinn insider articles. I can only find snippets

this is Nolen

Scout on Walter Nolen: "He'd probably be at the top of the list if you could just not see him between plays, between drills, between meetings. This kid has been paid at five different schools: three high schools and two colleges. He is a mercenary. He's probably the biggest mercenary in this whole draft. He has followed the money everywhere but yet is very quiet and shy. You would think totally disinterested. You wouldn't think he's hearing a word the coaches are saying to him. But when the ball is snapped, for 4 seconds at a time, he's really talented, really gifted."

So he either balls out and holds you to ransom at contract time, or he mails it in after he decides he's earned enough money. Hopefully you can tell come meetings, but it's not a great sign. I want to hear "I love the game, and I want to be the best ever" I've only heard that out of Hunter so far.

Yeah he's gotta be vetted big time. Like I'm fine if he wants to get paid, I have no clue what these HS/college kids home life is like.

I'm fine if money is a massive motivator, he's only gonna get paid if he plays good football.

Nolen imo needs a strong DL coach and locker room. He needs to get a taste of winning and be at the same spot for a while to get more comfortable with his surroundings. SF has all that.

I don't think the DL room is in a good state for a guy like this. It's going to be majority young guys and no established vets except Bosa.

Not at 11. I want a franchise guy that is a leader and doesnt need to be babysat. This is the one spot where the class is fairly strong. Plenty of 3 techniques to take later. Dont reach for trouble.

If all that is true then he seems like an eventual holdout. Do we really want that?

At #11 f**k guys that need help. I want someone who will provide it and eventually offer it

We're not even talking about a special talent here. Nolen is nice and I like him a lot, but he's not exactly the type of talent you should try to talk yourself into ignoring the red flags.

We've been a bit spoilt by character recently and we've forgotten about the Reuben Foster's of the world.

To be fair Nolen may not be a special talent, but he's almost a perfect fit, I'm glad they're bringing him in to have a look for themselves.

Yeah just not at #11 with all that. If trade back to 22 and have 3 extra picks can take the risk if they want.

My thing is if DT is the deepest position in the draft let's not reach for one at 11. Earliest at 43 if Tyleik falls.

Otherwise one of Farmer/Alexander/Sanders and CJ West are more than enough DL for our first five picks.

Go EDGE/CB or CB/EDGE with first two picks and then start with the DL. If Lynch trades back from 11 he gets to grab my guy Kyle Williams in the 3rd with the extra acquired pick. If grabs another pick as well they've earned the right to take a RB with that pick.

Reward system lol

Unless Treyveon is there at 43.... the more highlights I watched how does Kyle resist drafting this guy in the 2nd?

Fast. 3 down back. Best pass blocker in entire draft. Explosive home run hitter. Can catch.

Just give me Derrick Harmon and call it a day. Don't overthink this s**t!!!
Give me some run stuffing fatties at DT. No need to take one in the first .

To each their own, but I think the ideal scenario is a penetrating technical specimen & a run stuffing fatty!

Annoyingly we also need an edge setting, block shedding DE & a 3rd down pass rusher opposite Bosa.

I have no idea how it's come to this.
