2025 Draft Class: IDL

I'm pretty sure no roster in the history of the NFL has ever carried 4 or 5 rookies on the Dline. Ever.

Ends:
Nick Bosa
Free agent signing
Leonard Floyd
Yetur Gross Matos
Rookie (Round 1 or 2)
Sam Okuayinonu

Tackles:
Free agent signing
Rookie (Round 1 or 2)
Maliek Collins
Kevin Givens - Resign
Rookie (Round 3 or 4)
Evan Anderson - Resign

Others:
Alex Barrett - Resign to practice squad
Khalia Davis - practice squad
Robert Beal - cut
Drake Jackson - cut
Jordan Elliot - cut
Tarron Jackson - cut
Khalil Davis - Don't resign

So like I said, unless we decide to keep 12 defensive linemen which won't happen because we most likely will keep 9 or 10 max we probably only have room for 3 rookie defensive linemen max.
My comment regarding your remaining players..
Edge:
Sam O- I like him and he was a nice pick up in the middle of the season. But let's not make it like he's a lock there.
FA signing- we'll see if we sign one. Maybe more of a competition or camp body. Can this FA beat Sam O or the rookie?
So I wouldn't discount drafting 2 Edge here either-1 a high pick and a later pick and let them fight it out during camp. I'm sure they will stash one in practice or IR.

Tackles:
Kevin Givens- I'm ok moving on from him. He was getting pushed around and was graded 149 out of 219 grade last year. Serviceable but upgradeable whether it's a rookie or thru free agency.
Evan Anderson- nice developmental and contributor. But its ok to bring more competition here.
FA signing- yes!
This tackle group can use at least 2 rookies here also.

The Rams literally did this last season. Braden Fiske, Tyler Davis, Jared Verse and Brennan Jackson--all of whom were drafted in 2024--all made their 53-man roster.

In the last 2 drafts, the Rams have drafted 8 defensive linemen. Yes, eight f**king DL drafted, and it's paying dividends for them as they've got the 2nd best young DL behind the Eagles, IMO. Aaron Donald retired, and they've actually improved tenfold in the trenches. They've easily got the best DL in the NFCW while the 49ers, who have drafted an anemic 3 DL in the last 4 drafts, have the worst DL in the NFCW and one of the worst DLs in the league. For a team that claims to hang its hat on being strong in the trenches, that is f**king pathetic and inexcusable.

Brennan Jackson- 5th round
Tyler Davis- 6th round

Are no bette than anyone we have and wouldn't make our roster.

The Rams had no-one. Zero vets on that team.

They used a couple 3rds last year and a 1st and 2nd last year on lineman and it has paid off no doubt but they were in arguably MUCH worse shape than we are.

Keep moving the goalposts and making excuses for maintaining the status quo for an awful DL.

Hopefully for our sake, John Lynch isn't thinking like you and pulls his head out of his ass because Nick Bosa and a bunch of bums is going to get this regime's asses fired.

Love what they've done and hope the niners not only invest in, but actually hit on the picks. …but what metrics have they improved tenfold on this year vs say the last 3years?

I was referencing the number of recent homegrown DL. Almost their entire 11-player DL unit is homegrown. That is quite literally a tenfold improvement from a few years ago when they had just Bobby Brown. I should've been clearer.

Gotcha. This is the draft for the niners to go all in on DL. not going to lie, pretty nervous about whether they can hit if they do

I have faith after last year's draft, but what I really hope for is a buckshot approach where they accumulate extra picks and take as many shots as possible because they're bound to hit with the depth in this class. If they go with their typical precision drafting approach and hone in on their guy, I won't feel nearly as good about it.

Good listen. Here's one of the nuggets, they love Darius Alexander but he just turned 25. Does this drop him a little in your eyes?

If anything that may make him more enticing to the 49ers lol. They went for more older/proven players last year and it seems to have been a smart approach.

Haha! True. Dude is pretty much a finished product and will be 29 when he gets to his next contract. Braden Fiske was 24 when the Rams got him in the 2nd round.

Ty Robinson from Nebraska will also be 24.

I'm merely suggesting you replace those two overpaid, underpeforming FA pickups with cost-controlled rookies. Bam, 2 edges and 3 IDL.

You must have missed my other posts where I said I want to sign Colts DE Dayo Odeyingbo (6-6, 286 lbs, 61 games (19 starts), 106 combined tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks, and five forced fumbles. This guy is a load to deal with from any alignment) and DT Calais Campbell who was the leagues best interior run defender last year and 7th best overall AND draft a DT in the first two rounds.

I also want us to prioritize the Oline this year (starting with signing Drew Dalman) or else we will win another 6 games next year and Purdy won't last the season.

1.11- Josh Simmons, LT- OSU
2.43- TJ Sanders, DT- South Carolina
3.75- Anthony Belton, OT- NC State
3.99- Joshua Gray, LG- Oregon St
4.112- Nick Martin, LB- Oklahoma State
4.138- Billy Bowman, FS- Oklahoma
4.139- Jackson Hawes, TE- Georgia Tech

LT- Trent Williams / Anthony Belton
LG- Joshua Gray
C- Drew Dalman
RG- Dominick Puni
RT- Josh Simmons / Colton McKivitz

*Spencer Buford, Matt Hennessy and Nick Zakelj compete for backup IOL spot

*When Trent Williams retires Simmons moves to LT and Belton starts at RT

Starters:
5T- Dayo Odeyingbo
1T- Calais Campbell
3T- TJ Sanders
9T- Nick Bosa

2nd unit:
5T- Yetur Gross Matos
1T- Evan Anderson
3T- Maliek Collins
9T- Leonard Floyd

Nickel:
5T- Leonard Floyd
1T- Dayo Odeyingbo
3T- TJ Sanders
9T- Nick Bosa

Sam Okuayinonu- 9th man or practice roster

This is the ideal draft to be getting cost controlled young talent across the DL. Why are we spending any meaningful cash there? If it's not some crazy ass trade for Myles or Maxx I'm not really down for it.

Dayo Odeyingbo projected contract is gonna be 4yrs $70M ish

Campbell is more likely to retire at almost 40 vs play imo. He's gonna want one yr FGTD cash to make that work anyway.

Dalman is gonna get something around 4yrs $50M

also I'm not investing a top 11 pick on a OT who reportedly tore his patella tendon.

love the breakdowns, I'm just not sure how realistic it is.
