Membou has longer arms and an equal wing span, tho.

More height with pretty equal arms gives you more REACH overall. Because reach is ALSO a product of height. Not just arms. Making you more suited for Tackle in the NFL and speed rushers coming around the corner. A shorter, stout guy may kick inside to Guard.

I don't think vertical reach helps a linemen with horizontal movement.

You are playing a dangerous game here friendo.

Oh, I'm familiar with his game

For sure a longer person is on you quicker and easier than a shorter one. Length is part of total reach. Height is part of that. Just like a 6'6" person will get every rebound over a 6'0" person playing at the park. Even if your arms were very similar in length. Which would be unlikely with that differential. But for the sake of argument we assume it. The height also matters in total reach. Quite a lot.

Not saying Membou will be bad. I like him. Just at Tackle this guy may be one of the best ones in the draft and he's more naturally suited to it in some ways. Both can be really good players in their own ways. But even the athleticism is not that far off. This guy too put up really good numbers. He's only 1/10 off in the 40 from Membou. No slouch of an athlete. In a different year where he didn't get slightly overshadowed by the workout people would rave about him. You run 1/2 yard straight ahead. To smash the guy in front of you. So rarely will they run that far down the field anyway.

I like Ersery too. But OL aren't rebounding a ball. I dont care how high UP someone can reach, I care how far OUT someone can reach. Taller guys can reach further horizontally if they extend sideways on one foot, sure, but that's the position you NEVER want to be in as a linemen. Ersery has fine straight line athleticism. Membou appears to have better lateral and functional athleticism, is more refined with his hands, and is the more explosive athlete. You're free to prefer Ersery, and I wouldn't look at you sideways. But if the reason is height, I'm just saying that doesn't even translate to OL play in a positive way.
If SF Wanted To Invest a Day 2 On A Offensive Lineman

Any of these 3 Lineman offer good value for a Day 2 pick If SF wants to go this route today

1) Aireontae Ersery, Minnesota OT-His combination of size, power he did 25 rep's, and steady technical improvement suggests a player whose best football is in front of him.

2) Wyatt Milum West Virginia IOL-Four-year starter at tackle ,Did well in West Virginia Heavy run game,And was a solid pass protector
(Zero sacks allowed) during the 2023 season)

3) Marcus Mbow, Purdue OT- Mbow is a scheme-diverse lineman with legitimate three-position flexibility, (which SF value's in their players) ,and he brings a a wrestler's mentality to finishing blocks.

Looked pretty good today protecting Stroud's blindside. Would've been an upgrade over mcsuckvitz, but nooooooooo.
Sorry. Just venting again the way I did in April when they took collins

A lot of us wanted Ersery or someone to fill that role. We should expect the O line to be addressed in April's draft.
Dude looks really good. I was watching him today. If anything he was under drafted. He's an absolute bull with strength and size. Light on his feet. Mirrors and slides well. I knew he would be good.
Erserey has looked like a promising rookie, but he has not played particularly well, and definitely not like a special player. Obviously he can and will still improve, but his pressures and sacks are comparable to McKivitz while McKivitz is a superior run blocker at this stage of his career.

But he had a great game against trevis gipson so he's an all pro the niners missed on

One of the interesting things is how we have ignored O-line, which I think is half true. Very few people will name who the 49ers should have taken in lieu of some other player the past few drafts or will admit the guy they wanted has not worked out. Example, I was a huge Wanya Morris fan in the 2024 draft. But the 49ers passed and were absolutely correct. I think they were ready to take Rosengarten but we know what happened there. I've maintained the bigger whiffs were Aaron Banks over Creed Humphrey in 2021 and trading down with Tampa, who in turn to Tristan Wirfs, and finally passing on Rashawn Slater in 2021- though I do understand Kyle's vision with the Trey Lance trade. My point being the most egregious offenses occured in 2020 and 2021. I am a bit more forgiving as there are no obvious homerun draft picks on OL the last 2-3 drafts.
