Jackson Hawes-TE-Georgia Tech

I love the mentality that Hawes plays with. He's a junkyard dog type like Kittle that plays very physically. An Ivy League transfer that more than held his own against upper level competition. I think with Kittle and now Farrell, you can bring in Hawes as a #3 TE and let him continue to develop while utilizing him as an additional blocker.

Great 49ers gift ideas

Yeah, I had this guy circled on the draft board. Not sure that is still the case after the Farrell signing. Farrell is your hand picked blocking and special teams TE. With Kittle being 31, I think you are hoping for a development pass catching TE, or all around TE that can start as a TE3 and hopefully giving you something in a year or two.

He's in my next mock using our 5th round pick. Love his game and underutilized upside in the passing game.
I read his hands are brutal and he had like a 20% drop rate.
Best Inline Blocker: Jackson Hawes, Georgia Tech

Hawes is essentially a sixth offensive lineman whenever he is on the field. He has the strength at 6-foot-5 and 253 pounds, and the technique to drive defenders off the ball and even hold up in pass protection. His 74.7 run-blocking grade in 2024 was fifth among Power Four tight ends, and he has the versatility to be an effective blocker from an inline position, fullback or as a puller.

A nice piece that could be utilized on the goalline or short yardage, even at fullback.

His drop rate wasn't great but he also had limited opportunities as a receiver. He showed a lot better at the Senior Bowl overall. I think his ability as a receiver is underdeveloped and something I think he could get a lot better at in the NFL.

I don't make this comparison lightly, but Kittle was underutilized as a receiver in college. And I think Hawes has a similar skill profile to be that next 5th round impact player.
I wonder if this kid could pack 45-50lbs over a couple of years and play tackle? Stash him on the PS untill he gets there?

To me he's like Marcedes Lewis. I would take that every day. Lewis made a damn long career for himself as a thumper, block his ass off TE that could contribute in the passing game too.

Hawes was definitely underutilized as a receiver in college and could make some real improvement there in the NFL. I think you start him off as a #3 TE and in a year or two he's your replacement for Luke Farrell.

I think he'll showcase more of it after he gets to the pros. Dude was focused heavily on blocking or short to mid routes in the passing game, finding soft spots in zone. On tape, he actually has decent short-area quickness that could be lethal in designed passing plays to him.

He has a similar mentality to Kittle and Jennings where he's out there looking to steal souls and just absolutely destroy the guy across from him. Forget skill and everything else, he plays like a rabid Doberman. You could utilize him immediately as a rookie on special teams and in various packages on offense and in a year or two he's the replacement for Farrell.
