And in a move that will not be much of a shock, the Atlanta Falcons are proud to select:
Kentucky QB Andre Woodson
The Atlanta staff is obviously familiar with the SEC product who lead Kentucy past a very tough Georgia team in 2006, and feels he is a perfect fit to replace Vick as the face at QB. After leading arguably the nation's toughest conference in passing TDs and Yards last year, with a QB rating second only to Heisman trophy winner Tim Tebow, Atlanta considers themselves very lucky to be able to land him here without having to trade up.
He is widely considered a first round, top 20-25 talent and some have him rated higher than Brohm who was taken at 14. Though Woodson may need some time to develop before he has the starting job, the prospect of Woodson and McFadden leading the newly revamped Falcons offense will have fans in Atlanta soon saying "Michael Who?".
With no elite offensive lineman still available, this was an easy pick, rather than waiting to see which QB might still be around with the 18th pick of round 2.
And on a personal note, the Atlanta staff would like to send a hardy thanks to Mike Martz of the SF 49ers for trying to instill a year's worth of a new system in 4 days at the Senior Bowl and helping this top prospect fall to the second round. THANKS MIKE!!!
