Pac 10 offense = almost as good as a NFL offense.

I dont even know what conference the utes play in.

My point is, i dindt have high expectations for alex smith so i'll go with carr

Ya ok sure it was a no brainer for you, who was that other awesome qb that came from cal recently and that brilliant pac 10 offense... ohh ya kyle boller = you had no idea

Carr had five years to show what he could do and one of the best WRs in football for most of it. Smith has had one full season with no WRs and it was decent, then he got hurt. Jury's still out on Smith, we know for sure what Carr is.

I think Alex Smith is horrible, but I can't throw him in with Leaf. At least Smith conducts himself in a professional manner, Leaf had attitude along with being horrible.
As for the question of this post, I can't decide who is worse between Carr and Smith.

So many homers on this board.

David Carr is/was clearly a better quarterback than Alex Smith.

David Carr has next to no shot left at having a successful career. The same cannot be said for Alex Smith.

That is a weird comparison. They were drafted years apart for this to make any sense as a factor.

Alex Smith is on pace...ok..on pace..to have accomplished far less for the team who drafted him than Carr accomplised for the Texans. Heck, Alex Smith is yet to have a single big game numbers wise. I can't think of another QB that it took this long before having 1 great game. I recall Carr having a great game from time to time, and Leading the Texans to a big win every now and then.

Alex Smith is on pace to be considered one of the biggest busts ever. So far, Smith has some catching up to do to surpass Carr in my book

At the end of the day, both guys are the victims of playing behind inept offensive lines.

well first of all, Smith hasnt played enough to be considered a bust. a rookie season he shouldnt have played in on the worst offense ever, and a injury riddled season where he only started 3 games, sandwiching a semi successful 2006 season. and then last year he was on IR.

Carr had his chances. though i do beleive he could start elsewhere.
Patrick Willis
Alex Leaf
Carr has had more than enough chances to prove himself. Smith's time is running out. If he doesn't perform in the next 2 years, we can put the bust label on him.

I want to see Smith play 2 full seasons in the same system.

Both had crappy olines that pretty much gave them no chance.

That's why Brady and Cassel were good with the Pats.

The secret is the oline, not so much the qb.

Watch Cassel get his ass kicked with the Chiefs crappy oline.

I'll tell you all I told you so.

Well Cassel is going to do awful anyways. Belichick feels bad for Pioli so he gave Cassel to them for a 2nd rounder. Belichick knows that Cassel is no good. Crennel, Mangini, and Wies haven't done s**t since their departures from New England. McDaniels will soon follow.
