Damn.
I was just watching him the other night on a show called Pros vs Joes. Only time I've ever watched that show.

This is a tragic event. What a lot of people outside the Nashville community probably don't know, is that Steve just recently opened up a restaraunt here. He had always said that he wanted to retire here and help the community, and that was his first start. I read an interview and he basically said he wanted to give people good food at an affordable price, and to provide some jobs, especially with the economy as it is.
Beyond "Air" McNair, this was a person who was trying to do something good for a his community, truely giving back the support he had been giving.
As far as the news go, it's a jumbled mess. There have been two different reports on when he was killed, and how the police got involved. The condo was the home of the woman that was killed, but one report said Steve actually owned it. Neighbors said he was a frequent visitor there, and one source did say this was his girlfriend.
The only mention of a "murder/suicide" was early on. A CNN reporter with a source on Metro PD, said that they "did not know if it was a murder/suicide or homicide". Honestly I think it was more a situation where a reporter needed something for his story, and just threw it out there.

My goodness...what is the world coming to?
Steve was one of the toughest football players of all time. He sacrificed his body to make plays in a neverending effort to win. I always loved watching him play. He was truly a class act.

tidbits from the police conference on espnews
Ms. Sehel Kazzni = lady name family in Florida
worked at Dave and Busters, they were friends
Her cadillac was registered to her and Mcnair, co-renter of condo
She was pulled over, busted for DUI with McNair as a passenger on Thursday
The gun was not "readily found", was found when police continued search.
She was shot once in the head, Mcnair shot multiple times, once in head.

Air McNair was honestly one of my favorite quarterbacks in his heyday....Say what you will, but when I was like 11-12 I had a McNair jersey......
This is nuts.
McNair was one tough and talented Q.B. I live pretty close to Nashville and never heard an ill thing spoken of him.

thanks for thinking of me by the way. I am still shocked. This hit me way harder than Michael Jackson. I actually can't wait to go home and pull out my jersey

bus cook is A family friend , Thas was steve's agent. He only has two athletes he represents...both are Mississippians Bret Farve and air Mcnair...
I always liked the Mcnairs , I have told the story about working for Terrel buckely on this site a few times , but the funnest part of that gig was waiting for Mike Mcnair , steve mcnairs uncle to show up. Great people , really great. Steve has an awesome family....
I never really like Steve Mcnair very much...he was not a down to earth type guy , he had his posse and always tried to make himself appear bigger and "darker" then he really was.
Maybe it was because i knew his family and how he was brought up , that he seemed foolish rolling around with half gangster posse. I always wanted to tell him to get a grip dude...your not from south Central...your from freaken Mississippi........
My heart really goes out for the Mcnairs, this a terrible situation that no family should have to go threw , its even worse when you consider how fantastic they are as people. I could not feel any worse for them.

"Per Ken Whitehouse of NashvillePost.com and the Nashville City Paper, McNair's murder was preceded by a warning that he would be killed."

He got one DUI about a year ago, not multiple. He was barely over the legal limit, and a few people (including the bartender) all thought he was fine to drive.
The only reason that people made a big deal of it around here, is that they were mad he was a Raven. I remember a couple of ignorant "sports reporters" on the radio giving him grief for living in Baltimore but coming to Nashville to party it up. Apparently they forgot that he kept his home here.
