I dont think the money is that big of a deal. Crazy money for a HC who for his last 6 seasons had a losing record but its not like that money affects the salary cap. All these owners have enough wealth that they don't need to take out a second mortage just to be able to pay their coach or anything so if they want to drop that dough on a HC, more power to them.

This feels like a Cleveland Browns type of move.

That's beyond insane. What are they going to do if Gruden's return turns out to be a flop and he deserves to get fired after 3 years? They would be on the hook for an additional 7 years and $70 million.
Yes!

Dip into the salary cap.

Dip into the salary cap.
Coach salaries aren't part of the salary cap.

Feels like a lazy owner who doesn't want to make anymore football related decision for awhile.

Idk about lazy, but desperate. The fans turned on their team so fast, they are afraid to lose PSL sales for the new stadium

I know, just saying if it doesn't workout and they have to fire him, they can always limit how much they spend on players to pay off his contract.

Only it isn't a good hire. Gruden is overrated as hell. This has all the elements of a colossal failure.

I bet he tries to win them a playoff game and tries to hand the keys to someone else.

That rule almost got us Hue Jackson as head coach.Originally posted by ChazBoner:Originally posted by Jcool:Earlier in the week, the #Raiders interviewed TE coach Bobby Johnson for their for-now vacant head coach position, source said (as @caplannfl reported). There was one more candidate that would also satisfy the Rooney Rule.

That rule is so fkn stupid and insulting for the dude that's there just to satisfy it.
