I have JNEW as a friend in Facebook and he posted the following last night:

Jeremy Newberry: I haves decided after a long thought out decision. To retire from football. Thank all of you for the support over the years.

On of my Fav 9ers when he played for us
Good move on his part. Great Player, Lots of Heart and the Soul of our teams for a long time.

Really down to earth.

Thanks for all the sacrifices, big guy.
That guy always gave 100% and was a great lineman. It is too bad injuries caught up with him.

That dude needs to become an assistant OL coach pronto for the team.
He was a beast! Thanks 4 everything.
He was a real warrior. Too bad he had such bad knees. I wish him the best!
At least he retired before it was too late. I went to Antioch High for a couple of years and didn't know that he went there.
Yeah, I always liked Newberry. I was upset when he went to Oakland. Great player though, wish him well in his future.

As bad as his knees were I can't believe he made it this long. I am sure he probably will need knee replacement surgery by the time he is 50.
