Really sad news. One of the true innovators within the game. Feel sorry for the Eagles and his family. Reminds me of when Bill passed.

every once in a while some one comes along and you KNOW you have never really seen anything like this before.
In a copy cat league , all to often you cant tell one team from the other if you took the numbers and colors off the jearsy.
Then you have the Eagles D.
It was unlike anything else that is ran in todays NFL. It was obviously very diffrent...and other teams really could not even copy it.
When i think of him I think of guys like Buddy Ryan ,Fritz Shurmer , lebeau, George Seiferd.
Those are guys that you could TELL thier defense when you looked at it...its VERY different stuff then what you see down in and down out in their respective eras.
When he was rumored to possibly be in the running for the SF gig , I was threw the roof. I loved the IDEA of getting a state of the art , cutting edge Attacking defensive.
My hopes went from a HOF D-coord with a prototype System , to... Vanilla Ice Cream Mike Nolan.
From a coach who makes players(how many EX eagles Bombed in big money Free Agency and limped back to the eagles in the last decade)
To a coach that Rode in on the Coat tails of Ray Lewis.....
So , I do have a special little place in my heart for him.... The nfl will miss him
