How can anyone who roots for the Niners feel anything but disdain for Favre? If not for Favre, the Steelers would have tied us lat year with #6, if not only gotten 1 closer.

I certainly hope your post was submitted with a heavy dose of sarcasm.
All this just makes the Vikings look desperate, the way Favre was stringing them along the entire offseason.

AP alone should make Favre have better numbers than when he was with the Jets. Maybe he'll be back next year too.....

Football news these days consists of:

- Should Vick be able to play or not?
- Will Favre return
- What shampoo Tom Brady wears

Don't forget about -Who is Jessica Simpson humping now?

So here it is in a nutshell:

Favre had several bad seasons in a row and then pulls out a pretty good final season for them, except of course, he chokes in the cold at Chicago and then at home in the playoffs against the Falcons - those were a couple of cold, cold games and the old man just wasn't up for it anymore.

The Pack needs to decide one way or the other about Aaron Rodgers or he's going to be lost to some other team. There's a lot more upside to Rodgers, so basically Favre is allowed to go to the Jets via a trade with a poison pill clause that prevents him from being traded from the Jets to an NFC North opponent which is where he wants to play so he can show up the Pack. Favre is so hurt butt about this that he wants revenge against Ted Thompson (GM of the Pack). It all starts out pretty good for Favre and the Jets, but then old age catches up to him after about game ten and he's just gasping for breath and looks every bit his age down the stretch. The Jets ultimately nose dive down the stretch and cut him after the end of the season, but not before first firing their head coach for signing the old drama queen.

Favre has a bad shoulder, he should get it fixed immediately after the season, but he doesn't - hey, he's retired. But then that old hurt butt thing comes back again and he wants back at Ted Thomson. So he finally has his shoulder operated on a couple months ago and after lots of drama and enough curing to pass a physical, he has signed up with the Vikings so he can show Ted Thompson and those ungrateful people back in Green Bay who should all still be worshipping him. But it's not going to work out for him. He's going to look bad this year for the Vikes (he's never played well in domes), and I think that age thing is really going to get him this year. And on the flip side, I think Rodgers is probably going to Honolulu this February. He just missed Honolulu last year, he now has a year of experience under his belt, he has a great group of WRs, and his offensive line seems to have improved. It all adds up to Rodgers looking good, Thompson being vindicated, and Favre going out in an embarrassing cloud of artificial turf dust.

i dont get how you can be a Niner fan and not be disgusted by him.

hes always been the bane of our existence from the mid 90's to early 2000's. and how on top of not being able to stand him, all the teenage girl drama of retiring, coming back, retiring, coming back, having little attention whore media love stories about himself the last 2+ years, having big espn retirement tributes made over and over, wanting to skip out on summer camps, etc

just being a total douche with all this, ive lost all respect for Favre. he couldnt have screwed up his career any more. he could have gone out loved/hated, but 100% respected, but now hes lost all that. im so sick of hearing about him 24/7. i cant wait til he is so bad hes forced to retire and stay that way.
As much as I hate him, I'm happy he's back. Better for the league.

And...if Minnesota can harness his WTF's, then CHAMPIONSHIP AND SUPERBOWL.
you guys are dreaming if you think he does ANYTHING this year other than get hurt and throw INT's.....

Tarvaris Jackson-QB-Vikings Aug. 18 - 4:16 pm et

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the "feeling around the league" is that the Vikings will try to trade Tarvaris Jackson after signing Brett Favre.
Schefter says third QB J.D. Booty is safe, and the prevailing belief is that Jackson is the odd man out. It's worth noting that the NFL Network reported in mid-June that Jackson would request a trade if Favre became a Viking. The Vikings wouldn't get much, though, and Jackson's stock has further plummeted after an atrocious preseason opener and in-camp knee injury.
