This has probably been posted before so I do apologise but considering the slump we are all in just now I figured a feel good underdog tale might cheer us up. My favourite RB ever. Garrison Hearst.

Hearst is my favorite too. I was too young to see Roger Craig play, well other than his one infamous play....

Didn't Hearst say something about gays in the locker room, similar to what Larry Johnson said? And if so, why wasn't it given as much fanfare as LJ's scenario.
Could someone remember?

I liked Hearst. Too bad he didn't have a long time with us. I enjoyed Craig and Watters. But my favorite was Bill Ring.

I do remember something like that, but can't remember exactly what he said. He was a pretty likeable guy, though, and the thought was that he just made a stupid mistake of joking about the wrong thing publicly. In LJ's case, the guy is a jerk and people are quicker to jump his case about this stuff.

I remember what he said. After a reporter asked if he would be ok with gays on the team and in the locker room he said " oh hell no, we don't want no f**kin' f****ts" something like that. It was after that ex-viking came out.

WOW, that's a lot worse than what I remember and not at all his personality.

I remember this now.
I was thinking about another time, when Hearst sounded off in the locker room the week leading up to the game against the Broncos in '00 (Rice's last niners game). While defending JJ Stokes against the spitting incident with Romanowski, he said something about Romanowski being a "cracker". lol, there may have been something about dope too, but that's all I remember, because of Hearst's thick southern accent and quick delivery.
When a reporter brought it up, Romanowski basically replied very calmly (amazing for him) with: "Who? He still plays in the NFL?"
I believe there were other soundbites before this, too.
