offloading 2mil in salary with a cap that we already have space in. Aren't we something like 13mil under the cap space? Is Jed somehow trying to find a way to use that cap space as revenue or something? I mean I really don't think he cares about this team. If there is some BIG plan that he has or trent has....they need to shed some light on it because fans are fed up.
Do you not realize unused salary space rolls over? This is like NFL common sense.

If the team chooses to roll some or all of it over and use it the next year. We shall see.

I know it rolls over but they could have used it to sign an impact player or something for this season.

No single impact player would be enough to turn this dumpster fire around. Hopefully it will be enough next year

Honestly good ridence. His hearts been gone long before kaps play dropped off. Love him for that playoff run but he hasn't been trying for a long time.
i hate to see this,, but you are right

I sensed that too. Personally I think that KO he got from Kam Chancellor changed him.
I think him becoming a "brand" did. He became far to worried about ego, money, and his true passion which is awful art.

Me too but I also think he may have been hurt last year.
We get worse and worse every day.

That number one overall pick is looking more and more likely.

This team is the pitts.

We gave him away.... Admittedly I know little about these kinds of dealings, but this doesn't seem to help us at all.

Unless someone could explain how this is beneficial to us, I feel like baalke got bullied into trading him for nothing based on our mismanagement on offense, instead of his potential, knowing damn well he's going to see a big spike in performance in denvers scheme

Can we legitimately get VDs equal in talent for what we traded him for? Nope

we got two 6th rounders for a player who was a free agent at the end of the year(8 games), he is 31 with a game based on speed, hasnt performed well in a year and a half and has supposedly caused issues in the locker room. baalke didnt get bullied un the deal, he got something for nearly nothing.
Anyone who is upset with this trade is really short sighted. Sure, I'd love to have seen Vernon stick around forever and run past safeties into eternity.

As Bill Walsh once said tho...better to let a guy go too early than too late...and getting a pick to boot? No brainer.

What was Vernon going to do this year that made it worth keeping him? They aren't going to the playoffs. He's gone after the year anyway. Getting something in return is what you HAVE to do.

Who knows, maybe we have some impact players on the team now, but who can tell with this coaching staff?

assume the fans in denver are pretty happy with this,, like we were when we got boldin?

We got Boldin for a full year before we had to resign him, gave only one pick (didn't have to swap a 6th for a 7th), and Boldin was actually good before we traded for him. Davis has been garbage for 2+ seasons, refuses to catch anything that isn't perfectly placed on his chest (polar opposite of Boldin), and still likes to drop passes that are (also not Boldin). Working Vernon Davis, a poor route runner, into Peyton Manning's system without an offseason isn't gonna be easy either.

This. Peyton has had good TEs because they were great route runners. Davis isn't even close. I think we win in this deal. We aren't going to suck any worse without him.
Good trade. He was gone at the end of the season, and was not making us a better football team currently.

Best Wishes Vernon. As others have brought up, a lot of us will never forget that Saints game.

Kam Chancellor stole his heart and his soul. He's never been the same since.

Yep Vernon saw the underverse right there. Kam you keep what you kill.

I think the powers that be merged the Vernon Davis thread to update the fact he's been traded.

Vernon went through the worst of it -- survived to see the best of it -- back down to the worst of it again.

He'll be a good fit in Denver. Sorry to see him go. But his time was done here.

They didn't have "it" until a lot of the retirements went through. When they signed Torrey they were right up against the cap,it wasnt until after Justin and Davis retired that they had cap space. At that it was mostly scrub players, now they'll go into FA with 55+ million in space to go after top tier players, re-sign players and then you have the draft too.

thats the same website that said vince wilfork was 325. The niners website used to say anthony davis was 325. lol. those numbers are based on their combine weigh-ins if im not mistaken. Most guys add 10-15 pounds when they enter the nfl/

Okay then bell must be a little bigger than 252 if the websites are off a little

Maybe, but he is still a rookie. He doesnt have the frame that gronk has, that guy is thick. bell does not look anywhere near as big as gronk. I like bell, dont get me wrong, i just dont think he is going to be like that. he looks more like coby fleener.
