I think VD will do well for a year or so.

It's simple...Baalke robbed Ravens...and now Elway robbed Baalke.
How were we robbed? Davis was leaving regardless. We get two 6's, that's better than him just walking away.
We didn't just get 2 6th round picks. We traded a high 7th round pick for a late 6th round pick next year. Basically we traded up a few spots and a 6th round pick in 2017 (that may also be a very late 6th round pick).
Which is still better than nothing. He was leaving regardless, might as well get something for him. What were you expecting, a 4th round pick? He's 31 and on the downside of his career. This team ain't going anywhere, better for him that he gets a chance to win.

"Equal Talent!?!" What on earth are you talking about? OF COURSE they won't get equal talent. He's only under contract for the rest of the year.
Put another way, what does Vernon give us this year? They aren't going to the playoffs. At seasons end, he's gone. For nothing.
Baalke got a pick for something that in the bigger scheme costs them nothing. They got something for a resource that didn't and would never help them again.
That's called smart.
Seems like valid points you made, even with your unnecessarily strong tone.
Looking at it from the other side, elway just got a great player for a 2017 6th round pick? From that angle, I think we could have got more than we did for VD. I'm probably not as smart as you though
I know my Denver buddies are laughing their tails off right now.
EDIT: whether or not we should have traded him is not my issue, but you knew that. What we got for him is laughable.... Like giving a sports car away because you didn't know how to drive it

The only person not happy about Vernon leaving the 49ers is Kam Chancellor. As far as Darnell Dockett goes who does he play for? I've stayed away from the NFL Network, internet sites and sports talk radio for most of this year because the bashing just gets old not to mention the personal attacks on Jim Tomsula. People say we hired a plumber. So you take a dig at him and plumbers? Stay classy media. Yeah yeah they were right for once don't you and our so called fans feel vindicated? I'd still rather be optimistic although I must admit I have run out of reasons for optimism regarding this season. Overrated the young talent by far this year. The only hope I see is for some of the young CBs, Tartt, Lynch, Hyde, Ward, Bow and Armstead.
Just wondering why we couldn't have grabbed a couple of young OL for VD instead of more 6th and 7th rounders. I hate hoping we lose halfway through a season but we need a QB and unless we are picking 3rd and behind the likes of teams like Detroit and Tampa Bay who don't need QBs I want first pick. Of course there is no guarantee Trent gets it right. I have lost a lot of faith in him after seeing Brandon Thomas and Tank Carradine do nothing although in Tank's case I think he belongs in a 3-4. I blame Jed but I'm also smart enough to know Jed isn't going anywhere and he is our only hope for turning it around. Can he do it? Yup, he's done it before. Will he? I don't know.
Either way it's time IMO to blow it up Jed and get rid of Trent but before you do make sure he gets rid of Colin. Picks or no picks he's just got to go. Not only has he proven he can't play but his teammates don't believe in him and that is the biggest problem. What kind of guy who can get almost any women he wants goes after a teammates ex? Dude is closer to 30 than 20 and he should know better. As for Vernon thanks for everything and good luck in Denver. I'm certain he has more skill than what he has shown with us the last two years and as old as Peyton is he will make him look better than Kaep could for sure. Thank you for the NO and NY Giants playoff performances and the 2012 SB run. Thank you for being a great 49er you will be remembered fondly at least by this fan. It wasn't always perfect but it never is. Oh and for those of you wondering why we couldn't get more it's because he's 31 and only had 200 receiving yards last year. He isn't under contract next year and he's been injured a lot the last 2 years. Is he better than his numbers, absolutely our offense and QB sucks. This is the NFL and he's not Jimmy Graham Baalke got what he could get instead of waiting and getting nothing.
