he wouldn't trade Davis during the off-season, where we coulda gotten a 3rd round for him because of his value... and he chose to ride this guy to see how well he's gonna perform, and yet, he didn't have any plans if we were going to re-sign him for the "millions" he'd be askin for..
so now that Vernon didn't do crap this year, Baalke had no choice to accept a 2017 - 6th rounder???
and watch him use that pick (2017 - pick obtained from Denver, now select, Taylor McNamara.. TE - USC)
there is no way a team would have given us a third for vernon, they see the same things we have seen. vernon had little value in the off season even less now

Again, you guys are highly over estimating the value of VD and the TE position. We would have been lucky to get a third rounder for him at the peak of his career. To think he would demand anything remotely close, even in the off season, is just absurd.

lol .. so you never liked his 2011 playoffs .. 2 games, 292 yards 4 TD? And his 2012 playoffs, 252 yards again 1 TD.
8 playoff games, 600 yards and 7 TD. Dude was a monster.
he will go to other teams but in a few years he will come back here on a sunday like others have, be honored and be a niner for life. i welcome it because i will never judge his entire niner career over the last year and a half

No one would give Vernon Davis a 3rd round pick earlier in the year. He was a 31 year old TE coming of the worst season of his carrer.

Unless someone could explain how this is beneficial to us, I feel like baalke got bullied into trading him for nothing based on our mismanagement on offense, instead of his potential, knowing damn well he's going to see a big spike in performance in denvers scheme
Can we legitimately get VDs equal in talent for what we traded him for? Nope
He puts out little to no effort every week that he can actually get on the field. He was leaving in Free Agency at the end of the year. We got something instead of nothing for him. It's not like he was helping us at all this year.

Exactly. All that as well as a $7 million cap hit this year.

I was at that game. So exciting. What a great game.
I hope he beats the s**t out of the Seapukes in the super bowl at Levi's with Denver. Wouldn't that be SWEET?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

VD is terrible. A shadow of his former self is an understatement.
While I have ZERO confidence in Baalke to do something useful with a 6th round pick.. at least we got something back for Vernon and that's shocking.

Nice! This gives me a reason to unfriend his stupid fb page. It's always kind of annoyed me, but I never cared enough to hit unfriend since he was a Niner.

VD was soft. He never dove for a pass once. He never went up to contend for a ball. He ran bad routes, and had hands of stone.
He relied purely on his speed and athletisizm. Now that hes older, and those things are diminishing, hes finished.
The fact that we got anything is a plus.
Overall he had a nice Niner career, but hes been gone for 2 years now. Hes just not on the roster anymore this time.
