I would say he is the greatest TE in 49ers history. What he did in the playoffs for us was amazing. Not to mention he leads all receiving categories for a TE in niner history. I know the last two years he was a dud, but I think he will offer Denver something. Good luck to him.


Brent jones?

Brent Jones is my personal favorite TD...but VD has him beat in all the major categories in about the same amount of games and didn't have the QBs jones had throwing him the ball.

......i dunno...... i still want to say VD because i'm trying hard not to let the surrounding cast boost Jones's actual skill level (which was very high)

If he ran clean routes and attacked the ball still I'd agree. Maybe he'll start doing that in denver, but as far as he's played for 2 years now, I don't see it.

Feeling a little nostalgia. Not to long ago we were the team that pretty much had it all. With another piece missing, Its all but gone now. Now we're picking some type of unmanned aircraft up in FA to bolster our roster.

If he turns the clock back or he just wasn't trying for the last year and a half then I'd agree. Looks old and slow and his hands were never his strongest quality, but Manning throws a lot of floaters so he can jump catch them more easily.

It was fast and total in the nature of the tear down.

February of 2013 we were in the SB. That's just 2.5 years ago....it's all unbelievable.

Please, Brent Jones didn't take 1-1/2 seasons off because his feelings got hurt over a contract or whatever Davis' problem was...you can talk about the QBs that threw to Jones, while I can point to very different rules in place now that favor the passing game. Brent Jones left it all out on the field, and no one ever questioned his heart...Davis cannot say the same of his time with the 49ers. He was a great player at one time, but better than Jones? No.
