Outstanding talent, but just can't be a leader. He will be a great role player as long as he is not the main focus of the team. Too selfish and not enough heart to be a leader.

A win/win for both teams, for VD it was time to move on and for the 49ers it gives the young TE's a chance. Good luck Vernon Davis go get that ring!!!

Again thanks to Krapnpick, he killed Vernon's career just like he killed Harbaugh's career with the 9ers from a 13 TD TE to now being traded.

Screw it, I am happy for Vernon for not having to play for such a sh*te team and a completely hopeless retard of a QB.

Best of luck, you will be missed, Vernon!! Go and lift that Lombardi!!

Let's go Bronocs!!

Clearly you havent been watching the 49ers the last 2 years. VD blows. Kap didnt kill his career, age did. When your only asset is your deep speed, you have nothing to fall back on when age starts slowing you down.

BTW, you arent a 49ers fan. Sorry to break it to you. Go be a Broncos fan. And there is NO chance that Denver wins the SB this year.

BOUT DAMN TIME WE TRADED HIM.

NOT THE SAME PLAYER ...Maybe Minniing and a Super Bowl early favorite team can ignite Vernon to go back to his former self.

I waited years for old Vern to come back, but he never did.

Jump catches, shuffles his feet after the catch, doesn't really put his hands up to ever TRY to catch a ball, runs shtitiy routes most of the times, etc.

I'm glad we traded him and got something out of it.
Old ''DUKE'' Vernon never came back.

Even if Minning.

I'd like to know what happened after the opener last year, because in kaps first full season as a starter and the '14 opener in Dallas VD has 15 tds in 17 games. Personally I think he got hurt in the Levi opener and never recovered last year.

I think you are right, that back injury nagged him all last year imo.

Kaep started to spiral down and effected everyone around him.

It's also getting glossed over that he had an 850 yard 13 TD season with kap in 2013.
Good riddance ya bum! You know you stink when Celek is an instant upgrade over ya, day 1! Will be hilarious watching the drops in in Den. And all the unnecessary jump hopscotch this dude makes.
Agree, it's about time we unloaded Vernon. That said, just watch him flourish in Denver...he'll love catching balls from Peyton, bank it. Some are dissing the trade, saying Baalke should've gotten more for him...really? I say getting something is a heckuva lot better than nothing. Vernon was doing nothing this season...not all his fault, I get that, but his Niner glory days ended in 2013. Those are the cold, hard facts.

Anyone defending VD is delusional. If you paid attention at all in the last 2 years, youd have seen a player with crap fundamentals lose his natural gifts, and have nothing to fall back on.

No more watching Vernon try to catch passes with his arms down like he was using a laundry basket. No more seeing the ball clunk off his fingers. And no more watching a man the size of a bodybuilder shy away from contact like a punter.

Yup...Peyton lays the ball in there in stride and doesn't fast ball it 100mph. Also the fact that Manning can no longer go deep, will benefit Vernon in the short passing game. Lets remember he can still run.

I think right now in his career he's just playing not to get hurt. I mean take a look at all the dudes that went down this past weekend. Yeah he looks like he's playing soft...but he's also playing scared. It also doesn't help that he was playing with a QB with accuracy and decision issues last season and this season.

That is total BS. If you don't throw the ball to him, how is he supposed to make plays for the team?! Plus the schemes, how come Geep Chryst doesn't ask him to run those deep seam routes anymore huh?! If he wasn't catching passes as early as 2013, Kap would have been cut by now!! He single-handedly saved his career with 13 TDs when for the whole season he only had a total of 21 passing TDs. Go and do some research!!

The Bronocs is about a billion times better than this POS team, winning the Super Bowl or not!!

Vernon is crap, but he has the speed to thrive in Denver. Manning made Julius Thomas a rich man. Manning has made a living throwing to his TEs and Kubiak has been public that he wants to involve his TEs more. His numbers will go up definitely, Vernon will surely be motivated to play with the first competent QB in his entire football career.
