So much this.

Vernon was a great Niner. Deserves to be respected by the organization and fan base for what he contributed over 10 seasons.

It disgusts me to see so many fickle fans saying they're glad to see Vernon gone. He had a back injury last year that he tried to play through on top of all the Harbaugh backstabbing from the FO and Ray McDonald legal drama and bashing the team got from the media every week.

Personally, I would love to see him come back to Levi's for Super Bowl 50 and light up the NFC team with Manning passing to him since we're sure as hell not going to be in it.

For the Niners, this is just the beginning of another dark age.

First, where's my Quote ... 'cause that's not it !!!

Second, I'm far from FICKLE ... this is my 34th Season, Living and Dying (emotionally), with the 49ers.
I guess we just have different levels, of what it means to wear the uniform, as those before him did. And,
I'm surely not fickle, when it comes to Whom / What I like, versus what I don't either.

I appreciated his accomplishments, when I sensed he cared ... but I'll bet -- save this evening --
you will not find a single thread, wherein I've either sat on the fence, or swayed back and forth,
about any player wearing 'The Colours'. I mostly b***hed at him (and others), via my TV ... when
I feel/felt that he was underachieving. For the most part, since being on The Zone, I'm tried not to
join in with the pessimists, naysayer and their ilk.

And no, I don't look at it the same as a coach, a GM, or another player would ... that's not my JOB.
I'm a FAN, and it's my JOB, to root for the team ... week after week, season after season -- even when
I know we are gonna' get Skunked. To support them best I can, and Take No s**te from anyone about
this team, that Ain't a Niner Fan.

IMO, the only people that are allowed to speak ILL of the 49ers, are other Niner Fans ... and I'm not
talking about the Fair Weather types, either.

So YES, I'm GLAD HE'S GONE !!! overstayed his welcome (IMO) ... because these eyes, saw that
he did not wish to be here. Yes, he did some Nice things, while wearing 'The Colours' ... but with his
Given Ability, I really thought he would be SPECIAL, like Above and Beyond kinda' special ... like HOF
Caliber Special.

It just never happened for him as a Niner.

I am not glad that the 49ers no longer have an above average TE on the roster,
Sayonara Vernon Davis!

Hope you get a ring once all is said and done.

I'm ambivalent.

Sad he's leaving behind a lot of history, but happy he's going to a much better place.

Uh-huh ...

That always bothered me too.

Agreed.

Please, Brent Jones didn't take 1-1/2 seasons off because his feelings got hurt over a contract or whatever Davis' problem was...you can talk about the QBs that threw to Jones, while I can point to very different rules in place now that favor the passing game. Brent Jones left it all out on the field, and no one ever questioned his heart...Davis cannot say the same of his time with the 49ers. He was a great player at one time, but better than Jones? No.
Brent also run great routes and almost never dropped a ball; a big deal. Diff QB doe fer sure!

Farewell Vernon thanks for the ride, never forget the catch and cry for the Cahmp at The 'Stick..
Vernon was great when he loved the game, now he's afraid to get hit and afraid to get hurt. I honestly believe he gets hurt within three games of being a bronco. You just can't play football that way. Peace.

Agree, it's about time we unloaded Vernon. That said, just watch him flourish in Denver...he'll love catching balls from Peyton, bank it. Some are dissing the trade, saying Baalke should've gotten more for him...really? I say getting something is a heckuva lot better than nothing. Vernon was doing nothing this season...not all his fault, I get that, but his Niner glory days ended in 2013. Those are the cold, hard facts.

It's hard to believe that this was the best deal we could get for him. That being said if we kept him and he went FA we probably would have gotten more in a COMP pick. I would have demanded more or taken my chances with a comp pick.

I also expect him to produce more for Denver than he did for us the last year or so.

He used to run through or over people, now you see him looking for the exits as soon as he catches the football. He's definitely not the same player but he yet might be successful in Denver and make some play for them down the stretch.

So with 50+ mil in cap space, you're not expecting the 49ers to sign anyone in free agency then?

Comp picks are determined based on how many FA's you sign and how many you let go, so the likelihood that the 49ers would have gotten jack squat for VD if he walked is very high if they go out and sign a couple of mid-priced to high-priced free agents in the offseason. I wouldn't count on this team getting any further comp picks over the next year or two. They've got a ton of money to spend and they have holes to fill.

Only get comp picks if you sign less than you lose. If they are aggressive in FA this year they won't get any comp picks.

A totally crap deal for the 9ers.

Again thanks to Krapnpick, he killed Vernon's career just like he killed Harbaugh's career with the 9ers from a 13 TD TE to now being traded.

Screw it, I am happy for Vernon for not having to play for such a sh*te team and a completely hopeless retard of a QB.

Best of luck, you will be missed, Vernon!! Go and lift that Lombardi!!

Let's go Bronocs!!

Clearly you havent been watching the 49ers the last 2 years. VD blows. Kap didnt kill his career, age did. When your only asset is your deep speed, you have nothing to fall back on when age starts slowing you down.

BTW, you arent a 49ers fan. Sorry to break it to you. Go be a Broncos fan. And there is NO chance that Denver wins the SB this year.

f**kin aye 99, you are spot on with all you say here..

Denver held Aaron Rodgers to like 79 yards passing. That defense is the only thing in tom Brady's way. If manning gets that offense going look out.

I am happy for Vernon. He's going from the gutter to a championship contender. The niners did him a favor. My guess is he turns it up a notch. Anyone wishing him negative needs to look in the mirror.
Davis wont have to worry about catching fastballs 2 feet away from him anymore.

Rascal was so mad he misspelled the teams' iconic mascot.
