I would seriously consider it..Holmgren was stripped of his GM duties and the team did much better & made it to a Super Bowl with Ruskell taking control of the team's front office. I don't know why some people are so hot on guys like Holmgren and Shanahan, I don't think their next steps will be nearly as successful as where they had previously coached.
Holmgren built up that team, but the workload hurt his performance as a coach. Ruskell came in as the team was poised to make a run. Then they started to go down hill when his disitions kicked in.

Ruskell made some great picks for the teams defense and actually I think would be an upgrade for our front office
Really? A link to bleach report don't mean squat. Please list these great picks. In fact, maybe list all his draft picks so we can determine the good vs bad picks. Thanks in advance.

Those picks were made the year they went to the SB though so they really had no effect. In fact, it could be argued that Holmgren focusing only on coaching is what put the Seahawks over the top and allowed them to dominate that year.
I would pass on Ruskell - he lost arguable one of the best o-linemen in the league in Hutchinson (a Holmgren pick mind you) and he gave Shaun Alexander a huge contract way too late in his career. The Nines don't need this kind of GM'ing - this is Terry Donahue-ish.

No thanks. Holmgren is the reason they won anything. He coached up Hasselbeck in the Walsh system like he did Favre and got lucky with Alexander having a good few seasons behind a better than average Oline. They were always mediocre at WR, they won because of scheme more than talent, esp the talent Ruskell acquired.

Uhh, no. The Seahawks have gone completely backwards over the past few years. And they seem to always be hit by injuries to their aging key players. I like what we have now and don't want him making decisions for the team.

He was basically fired. He resigned because the Seahawks weren't going to offer him a new contract. His track record ( draft picks, free agent signings) is not good. Only Tatupu of his 5 draft classes has made the Pro Bowl. His biggest mistake was letting Steve Hutchison get away. Seahawks are headed in the wrong direction and he had to go. It is the right move for the Seahawks.
No way we want him working for the 49ers!!!

Wow AB. I thought you were a better poster than this. Maybe you should look into that hiatus that you threatened.

The Seahwks have gotten worse every year since Ruskell arrived. He didn't draft Alexander, but he was the guy that gave him the big contracta and 2 years later Alexander was out of the league. He is also the guy that let Hutchison walk when they could have franchised him. He also traded a #1 to the Pats for Deion Branch, who has done almost nothing for the team. His drafting track record is not that good either, you can look it up.

Thanks for the info. May I ask where u find info like this? I would like to use your source to look up draft picks from other GM's as well.
As for these picks from Ruskell, I see the following good picks:
Carlson 2008 (2nd round)
Forsett 2008 (7th round)
Mebane 2007 (3rd round)
Schmitt 2008 (5th round)
I am iffy on Tatupu due to his decline even before his latest injuries. Same with Tapp.
Notice the results on their 1st round picks. The jury is still out for Curry and the rest of the 2009 draft, but the previous years are pretty much disappointments/busts.
Another question: Was it Ruskell or Holmgren that traded their multiple picks (don't remember how many 1st rders) for Branch?
