Calvin Johnson on trading block!?

It's just 2 writers in Detroit's opinion/idea. Their reasoning is it's smarter to trade Megatron for a whole bunch of picks to fill the Lions' numerous holes vs having a dominant player at 1 position. It does not mean Detroit is interested in moving him.

What the press says does not equal the same feelings as the organization.

and to take dex bryant with with on of the picks.

hmm i would give up boith 1sts and our 2nd right now no worries about it. hell i will throw in next yeas 1st if it would get it done.

3 firsts and a second? Am I understanding you correctly?

Yes you are. It is a little steep but I am not sure any 2 plyers we would get would equal Him. Unless we end up with a top 10 pick then no.

I don't think any player is worth that much UNLESS it's a young phenom QB. Is that you Mike Ditka? Didn't know you were a zoner.

We are obviously not going to agree on this, and that is ok. Just let me put my point of view, though.

Right now we are in desperate need of a line and some db's. If you make this trade the highest pick we can spend on the line, obviously, is a third. The sure things are gone by then although we may get lucky with a guard. Can't rely on FA this year. And our first next year as well, which kind of hollows out our chances of development for two years. That's a long time in the NFL.

Worst case scenario? CJ suffers a big injury, career ending maybe. And we are ####ed. Royally.

Now any of the four players we will take with these picks could likewise get injured, and one of them will probably bust. But you have all your eggs in one basket. Scary.

But most of all it is the position. I would lay out big time for a quarterback or for a passrusher. These positions can in my view singlehandedly change games.

I was trying to think what I would offer for him. Our bonus first and two seconds (this and next year), certainly but I doubt this would be anywhere near enough. I don't know how long he has left on his contract.

I don't think we are yet in a position to make this sort of deal yet, although we may be in a year or two. A guy like this could take you to another level, but only if all the other pieces are in place.

But I understand why you think that way. We are just haggling about the price!

and i understand why someone would not want to give all that up. also the oline, i am hoping we fill in FA. but with us going more spread having davis crabtreem and johnson would be huge especially if we can keep them all happy which i think we could.
and like the giants i am not sure of our head personnel guy. while they can still work out i am nervous about the screw ups, then again, maybe it was the coaching that was "busting" our players.

also, a top 10 pick will nullify alot of that. if we make the playoffs and the panthers finish 6-10 and we end up with the 12th-18th pick. and yeah he can get hurt, but he is a sure thing and will probably come cheaper than than some of our higher picks.

alex is now a moderate example. but was going to be a great one of what would happen. or reggie bush, he is a good player an asset to his team, but they will not be able to keep him.

a little rambling, but i am pretty sick and it is hard to think clearly. i value the late 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds the most. especially now that singeltary is hear to set players straight.

it would be funny though, after all those drafts of taking a wide receiver, they trade the one that actually worked out lol

and that is why he's not a General Manger of an NFL team folks. You never trade 3 FIRST round picks for a wide-receiver, never. I would trade 3 first round picks for a Qb in a heart beat, only if that Qb had the last name Brees, Manning(Peyton) or Brady. Only those three players are worth 3 first rounders, imo.

They take it for Manning!!!

Unless he's unhappy in Detroit, there's no way you take a way a top 5 WR in the league from a developing QB in Stafford.

I wonder how many of them are actually happy to be a Detroit Lion?

Still horrible reasoning. If the Lions trade him they will regret it for a long time.

Johnson is what like 24? Meaning he's got 10 good years left in him. Build the team and fill the holes the next 2 years. Stupid to trade a star WR about to hit his prime.

So you would trade 3 1st round picks for a 30, 32, or 33 year old QB? Way to mortgage the future for a small window with a superstar QB - who would be playing behind a very sub-par offensive line. Guess that's why you aren't a General Manager of an NFL team either.
