Don't have time to read right now but does this mean that they will make it a CAP like in basketball and not all these ridiculous contracts for players who haven't taken a snap?

The link has no details at all. It's all merely speculation...

Man I hope they get a rookie wage scale in place, and soon. Nothing would be better for the NFL than teams being able to spend their money retaining good veteran players, instead of gambling it away on expensive 1st round picks.

I speak more Crabtree's on the next 2 drafts with no payscale.

How long have the vets been complaining about this? I'd be b***hing like crazy if some rookie was tapping into my earning potential.

I actually just completed my senior thesis on this issue this past semester.
If the NFL implements a NBA-like pay scale for first round draft picks, the league could save about 90 million dollars.
This can provide the NFL with more funds for their retirement and disability benefits of retirees - if allocated fully. In addition, they could use it to fund the new stadium pool. In 5 years, it could pay for about 1/3 of our stadium!
