You so-called fans don't know who Jesse Sapolu was?
Being someone that doesnt live in America, therefore outside looking in and only being in nappies when the 9ers selected Sapolu, no I didnt know much about him.
In New Zealand during the 80s and 90s, the only time one would hear about gridiron was in the newspaper. It pointed out what teams played in the super bowl, the score line and MVP, that was its only exposure till the next super bowl. It did grow from there on with the rise of the internet and digital tv.
Instead of telling me what I already knows and thats lack of knowlegue of past great 49er players, why dont you come out and give me your take on Sapolu? that would have gone down better because really the guy is as one poster put it:

Maybe the reason many don't remember him very well is because the o-line was so good no names ever came up, as it should be for an offensive lineman. The better they are the less you hear their names, cough, Kwame Harris, cough.
This section of the forum should encourage members to ask question about the great 9er past and share that information to new 49er members be it new to the forum or a new fan to the 49ers, so they know where the team has been while on this journey of where its going.
