you think he has the tools to be a FRANCHISE qb? or are you saying we should take him just because he is better than the crap we have at QB (David Carr)?

He has...

~ The arm.
~ The legs.
~ The athleticism.
~ The quick release.
~ The accuracy.
~ The size.
~ The strength.

He comes from a system where he will need time to adjust. Harbaugh should be able to school him better than anybody. He's not NoWin or SingleBrainCell. Under Harbaugh's wing Gabbert could become a star. He's better physically than the guys we are talking about later (Ponder, Dalton).

couldnt you say the same thing about Cam?

Cam does not have...

~ The arm.
~ Quick release.
~ Accuracy.

He has the others...

now I'm just going off of stats, but in 2010, Cam had a better comp % than Blaine. 66.1 - 63.4. Surely cam has to be somewhat accurate even if his passes were just short throws. But, then that cant be the case because stats show that Gabbert's average pass completed was 6.1 to Cam's 10.1 YPA.

Also with the arm, how does a QB complete 30 TD's in a college season if he doesnt have an arm?

now, I'm honestly asking this, because I didnt pay attention to the college info that came in. trying to get it all in at the last second.

Cam made short throws and had far superior talent around him at Auburn. Gabbert had average talent. Locker for example had horrific talent around him. He's under estimated BTW.

Cam had good talent and had great legs to run. Not a pro QB. His accuracy is very underwhelming. At the combine he was spraying the ball all over the place.
somebody should create a poll.

I want to know who is the number one choice of the board.

how about no

Go for it, hungarian.

because taking gabbert, who seems just like the guy the webzone loves to hate while there is an elite defensive guy on the board would be dumb. there are other qbs i like better than gabbert in this draft. id much rather have dalton or ponder. ive looked up stanzi too and he looks like he has it all. defense first round unless its AJ green somehow and QB in the 2nd or late 1st from a trade

There aren't other QB's with...

~ The size.
~ Strength.
~ Quick release.
~ Accuracy.
~ Arm Strength.

Ponder and Dalton have nowhere near the arm. Molded by Harbaugh this guy could become special. This isn't NoWin or SingleBrainCell you know. A guy with the tools in combination with a QB GURU is a good combination. There are no D guarantees either. Those guys haven't taken one down in the NFL yet. You have no idea what they will be. Some will be busts.

and how do we know gabbert wont be a bust? he hasnt played an NFL snap either. leaf, couch, russel and many other QBs who had it all turned into s**t in the NFL. this dude is too similar to what we just had in Alex. with a coach like harbaugh i think id like a guy like Locker later on with more physical tools than gabbert to mold into the qb he wants. i just dont see harbaugh taking gabbert at 7 unless peterson, prince and miller are all gone.

It'll be between Quinn, Prince or Gabbert.

quinn is the one who didnt play last year right? or is he the one who was mediocre for two years and then went beast mode last year? both of those guys are sketchy to me. i dont remember the name of the other guy but i wouldnt take either of them. one of the two CBs, miller, AJ Green or one of the DTs that no way will make it to 7 are the only ones id look at.

First of all how is he similar to Smith? Smith is 205 lbs. if he just got out of a pool totally wet. Gabbert is 235 lbs. He's much stronger and more stocky. His arm is much stronger than Alex. Not even in the same category. A cannon arm. Alex's is weak by NFL standards. He's measurably faster and more athletic than Alex.

I don't buy the prevailing WZ argument that he is just like Smith. He's a far superior athlete with a stronger arm, quicker release and much bigger build. That's not just like Smith. It's much different. And this time BTW we don't have NoWin or SingleBrainCell developing the new guy. Quite a difference to have Harbaugh there from the beginning. You couldn't have a better young QB training ground than having Harbaugh.

And it is possible those guys you named could be gone or several of them anyway.

Harbaugh tried recruiting Gabbert out of high school, so we'll find out what he thinks of him, if he passes on him, if he's there at #7.

Too all those who want Gabbert, watch him in the pocket...does he remind you of anyone familiar? And pocket awareness isn't something that can be necessarily taught. Hes taking advantage of a weak qb class and would not be a top 10 pick in pretty much any other year. The QB class next yr looks soooooo much better. I would rather take a mid-round prospect which would mean we are not committing the franchise to him and possibly take one of the highly rated qbs that are coming out next yr if they fall into our lap.
ITS ALL UP TO HARBAUGH. HE WAS HIRED FOR HIS EXPERTISE IN EVALUATING AND DEVELOPING QUARTERBACKS. SO ITS ALL GOOD
