This s**t is getting out of hand, it is just a bunch of overpaid a*****es on both sides being greedy mother f**kers.
Just take your millions and keep the NFL moving you sorry sacks of s**t! Some people struggle to get NFL Sunday Ticket monthly just to watch your rich asses run around and buy tickets to the games to put money in the owners pockets, dish out eight bucks a beer and get ripped off every damn day being NFL fans.
Play football you silly f*gs.

This may actually be the best thing that could happen. If the owners can't use that money then they may be more inclined to work with the NFLPA.
Exactly. Before this happened I was not convinced that the owners were really trying to get this resolved quickly, since they knew they could easily wait out the union while still earning TV revenue. Now they will have to actually try and hammer out a deal.
I'm not on the side of the union or the owners. I'm on the side of the fan. And for fans, I think this is a big win.
Agreed. I don't think the owners and players realize(or just don't care) about the fact that they're gonna alienate the fans with a lockout. The fans don't care about a bunch of rich people arguing over money.
It's not that they don't care, it's that they don't think anything they do will alienate fans to the point that attendance or tv ratings will decrease. They see us as sheep who will return regardless of how long this is drawn out.
They're very stupid then. It took MLB over 10 years to recover from their last work stoppage.
The NFL is extremely arrogant. Just read the story about the judge ruling they can't pocket the tv money. I mean they have been calculating this for more than 5 years.
they happen to be right though. None of the customers are going to do a damn thing, and yes they will be waiting.
The difference with what happened to the MLB, is game play and season was already starting to be looked at as somewhat antiquated.....so their work stoppage just allowed many fans to do what they had been pondering already. Plus the NFL was getting really good.
IF
The NFL had some new league sport to contend with then they would be miscalculating, but they don't.
The suckers....er I mean customers will just complain and complain, but whenever they choose opening day to be, they will be throwing their money right back into the pot
sad but true i mean they got me hook, line, and sinker

NFL players make the least among the major sports. Isnt it kinda ridiculous that Patrick Willis is making less then Gilbert Arenas or that Peyton Manning makes less than Rashard Lewis?

Every other sport plays far more games. At least 80 in the regular season followed by multi-game series in the playoffs. They also have fewer than 56 players on the roster.
So, no, its not ridiculous that players in other sports would make more money. Its simple economics.

also not factored in this discussion is the amount of equity gained each year as related to the ownership of these franchises let alone the certain operator profits each year. just assume jerry jones bought his team years ago to the tune of $150 million dollars and now it is worth probably about $1.5 billion. man that is probably 57% annual return or something like that and i am supposed to weep for the owners who have the best investment or one of them known to man. it ain't that many IPO's yieldin them kind of returns. if jerry sells he is gonna realize substantial gains as well as all the other owners. their families are set for generations to come

true but unfortunately nfl players work 300 plus days annually as well as those other sports while sustaining far more serious adverse health effects and a greater shortening of their life expectancies. the economics are in your favor here but giving the owners one billion dollars back doesn't seem to make much sense. they gotta figure this mess out but to me the owners seem much too greedy and could care less for their employees

Sounds like thier wont be a union at 2 pm pacfic time... just from listening to Espn... I know Obama said he wouldn't get involved, but isn't the loss of jobs by those that work for the nfl who are not players effect the economy also?

Yeah I saw that.. That why I said looks like were getting a lock out.. This wont be the only lockout, because NBA is preparing for one at the end of it's season... This fall could be very boring..
P.S. Mort also said thier talk of an 8 game schedule in 2011... So it sounds like games could be very well missed..
