Huh? Our signing day was a huge success...

They do rank 6th in the PAC12 and 36th in the nation. Not a good sign for a team and an athletic director that expects AState to finish in the top 15 in the rankings every year.

You must not follow ASU very much. Herm has the best year 1 recruitment class of the last 4 new coaches there

I'm positive I don't follow them as closely as you, but I do pay attention to what the PAC-12 teams are doing. My biggest issue with ASU is the fact they pulled a wicked UCLA and hired a guy that is a tremendous risk and could hurt the competitiveness of the PAC. Now, as A USC guy, I have little room to talk, but, this is on the Dorrell / Neweasel level of "are you sure about that?".

As far as their recruiting this year, good but I don't believe it is that much better than past, and it will get worse if ASU doesn't get some AZ fences up fast.

With UA landing Sumlin... this only raises stakes for a guy that hasn't coached football in a decade and has very few ties to TEXAS; the only other real recruit source Arizona programs have access other than LA (USC, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon, and Cal) leftovers.

So you will criticize asu for landing 5 Star Stanford OL grad transfer, 3 4 Stars, A 3 Star OL previously committed to Alabama, a 3 Star WR who was committed to Notre Dame, and a 3 Star DB who has offers from schools like Ohio State and Wisconsin? All in one week.

But think we should be worried about Sumlin who finished with one of the worst classes?

Forget all the words, asu only performance so far was wrapping up recruitment which compared to Graham is a huge improvement.

Graham had one good class his entire time he was here. It's amazing people don't realize that. Plus his off years were heavily reliant on JC's which has never been good for long term success

Edit: we have 5 recruits from TX, so not sure why your thinking asu can't recruot TX now

Arizona has up and down years in high school talent. This was a big down year, weakest in 5 years. Only guy we tried to get was WR Enis but his #1 thing is to start as a true freshman. Our WRs are the best unit on the team.

ASU 2018

Two four stars and a pack of threes. And those four stars are the picked over seconds.

A 5 Star grad transfer is a recruiting mistake looking for a chance on a less competitive team. Ask Pitt about that.

The wide receivers have a very questionable QB; something SC also is challenged. When your best offensive unit is WR... you are dependent on having solid play behind the line of scrimmage.

As far as Arizona is concerned, I'm not worried at all about them. They possibly have the best players in the PAC at QB, and I'm sure Sumlin knows what to do with him.

Edwards... is a hire that bucks the paradigm. Which means it carries Baalke injurd player drafting like risk.

Uhhh Casey Tucker started at Stanford before injury. Last top OL transfer we had is Westerman who is the nfl

I'm sorry but if you think asu had a bad signing day you don't know college football. It's probably the 3rd or 4th best class at ASU in past 15 years. And you think it's a sign we're doing bad, lol.

Manny Wilkins is a very questionable qb? Lol. He may not be the best but he is clearly in the top half of the conference
Edit: if you want pac competitive, asu not having the 110th ranked d is good for the conference

Bolles and Hughes are 4 stars on rivals. I've always preferred their rankings as more accurate

We'll see as the season pans out. And yes, I do believe the Wilkins is a average QB who will need solid line play and a running game to exploit the WR talent. That's not a bad thing but it's going to be a team offense if it's going to be successful.

Few Graduate transfers (regardless of high school ratings) pan out to be anything above average. There have been some, I know SC had one from Utah that ended up being a stud, but they're few and far between.

In any case, good luck and it's nice to see a positive AZ fan as most of my AZ buddies are not so thrilled at the moment.

You really should start listing to the PAC12 podcast of champions, and I believe 247 also has a dedicated AZState podcast. The guy I heard covering them seems very knowledgeable.

The thing that will dog ASU this season from a perception standpoint is they chose to do something you never see. Usually that's because it shouldn't be done. When convention is challenged, most will assume a result that would accompany that direction. But, maybe it turns out.
Isnt the thread subject Michigan? Isnt there a College Football thread?

This should be a part of that thread.

The HarDrevno experience is over. Drevno is stepping down. Either Harbaugh has learned or Drevno has more integrity than Roman. Either way, if you truly are a UM fan, you should feel relieved.
Since I guess this is the defacto Michigan thread :

Michigan athletic staffer was barefoot, bit lab tech after drunk driving arrest, report says

Connolly was found shoeless - his feet bloody - and incoherent at Second and Madison streets shortly after a reported hit-and-run crash at First and Mosley streets on the city's West Side about 11:50 a.m. March 5, according to the police report.

Shortly after, police found Connolly standing barefoot in a snow bank, according to the report. He was not dressed appropriately for the cold day and was leaning against a tree speaking on his cellphone, the report said.

Officers on scene noted his speech was slurred and he didn't have a wallet or identification, according to the police report. Police had to look him up on the internet to confirm his identity.

Connolly had injuries to an arm, his stomach, and his feet, and Ann Arbor police Officer Garrett Marshall said in his report that Connolly was unaware of where he'd come from.
"He was disorientated and smelled of intoxicants," according to Officer Stephanie Kjos-Warner's report. "His eyes were glassed over, as he stared at (the responding officer) and handed his cell phone to her."

Connolly was verbally abusive toward officers and repeatedly told them, "Do not do this to me," and "F**k off", according to the report.

He also resisted police during arrest and at the station, where he repeatedly fell from a bench, police said. He was restrained to a chair after taking "an open hand swing," striking an officer on the arm, Marshall said in his report.

Connolly was later taken to the University of Michigan emergency room for injuries to his feet and his apparent intoxication, according to the report.

There, he assured police he would remain calm before trying to get out of the hospital bed and swinging at Marshall, according to the report.

He was then handcuffed to the bed, but sat up and grabbed a security officer "by the throat," according to the report.

Portions of the altercation with police are redacted from the report, but it states hospital security personnel used four-point restraints to subdue Connolly. While in the restraint, Connolly bit a UM emergency technician on the arm, grazing her skin with his teeth, the report said. The technician said the bite was not hard and didn't break the skin.

Neither the security officer nor the technician reported injuries, and Connolly was eventually sedated.

"Throughout the entire contact with Connolly he refused to give his name, any statement about where he was prior to us finding him and if he had been drinking and driving," Marshall stated in his report.
