I think this year Jim is going to learn more about X's and O's, in a sense, as a preparation to go to the NFL with his coaching staff having deep OC experience. I'm thinking this time he'll bring Pep to the NFL, unlike last time he went to the NFL, he couldn't bring David Shaw with him. I think he could have gone to the NFL Bears this year, but he'd probably have a lack of control. With a national championship (good chance for that this year) he can write his ticket to a bottom feeding team next year. Cleveland Browns? Hopefully he'll have total control of his new ball club the way Kyle Shanahan has now with the 49ers, and how Jim has total control over U of M right now.

Michigan currently has passing game coordinator Pep Hamilton, offensive line coach Ed Warinner and wide receivers coach Jim McElwain on staff. All three have offensive coordinator experience, though Harbaugh still seems to be sticking more toward the type of collaborative approach he's used in recent years.

Yeah, Harbaugh's 18 people involved in each playcall system. LOL. I'd be mildly surprised if he ever comes back to the NFL. Why would he when he and his style is built for college ball and when he has total control?

Maybe he'll reach a point where he's ready to come back and redeem his image and join under his terms. There might be a bold FO who will give him total control.

Not sure why you guys keep posting about this? Just watch the All or Nothing series.

They show Pep calling plays in the show.

Pep: What do you think about a pass here?
Jim: Yes go pass.
Pep calls the play into the QB.
3rd string QB throws into double coverage for an INT.

It's not rocket science.

Harbaugh is more Mike Ditka than Bill Walsh, but Mike Ditka did well in the NFL. Having said that, I think having a good GM to support Harbaugh will be critical if he's going back to the NFL. Kyle has a vision of where the 49ers should go and be, and I'm sure Harbaugh does have one for his Michigan team, the key is that you have good people surrounding you and not back stabbing you. Harbaugh, to succeed in the NFL, he just needs good people around him. Bill had John McVay, Seifert had Carmen Policy, Kyle has John Lynch. Harbaugh had nobody to lean on and get support, not the owner not the GM, and he still won anyway. Give this guy a good GM and an owner that appreciates his kind of throwback long ball offense and winning, and he'll do well.

Simmons: Michigan has "national title-contending" team

https://www.google.com/amp/s/247sports.com/college/michigan/Article/Barton-Simmons-Michigan-Wolverines-football-has-national-title-contending-roster-119874033/Amp/

"I'm on the over. I'm at 11-1. To me, there is a misrepresentation or a misperception of Michigan in that somehow last year's season created this sort of narrative that Jim Harbaugh is underachieving at Michigan. Let's remember that they went from 5-7 to 10-3 in his first year. In 2016, they lost by one point at Iowa in Kinnick Stadium. We know how tough that is. Then they lost at Ohio State in double-overtime by three points and that's it. That's all they lost in the regular season. They're literally a play or two away from being undefeated. I know the losses count and they're there, but how differently do we look at this team if they get a couple of those plays and they're two seasons removed from undefeated?"
Simmons describes Michigan's 2016 quarterback play as "horrible." That's not exaggeration. Harbaugh struggled to find a decent option under center even though Brandon Peters did have some nice moments. With Patterson coming in, Simmons said that the Ole Miss transfer is "dramatically better than what they've had at quarterback since Jim Harbaugh has been there." Throw in what Simmons declared "arguably the best defense in college football," and this team has the makings of a serious national title contender.
"I just look at this roster and I just say, 'This is a really good team.' They've got Wisconsin at home. They've got Penn State at home, and Ohio State is a rivalry game. You just throw the records out," Simmons stated. "I think that they could win in the 'Shoe there … I think this is a national title-contending team."

Sam Dodge: "There are a lot of parallels between Harbaugh's fourth season at Stanford and the upcoming Michigan one.

The most obvious? Both teams finished 8-5 the year before. In addition, the team's success depended mostly on one side of the ball. For Stanford in 2010, their No. 3 offense in S&P elevated the No. 83 defense. Michigan's No. 10 defense carried the stagnant No. 85 offense in 2017."

While 8-5 looked superficially like vast improvement for the Cardinal, Harbaugh harbored deep frustration heading into his fourth year. He shifted his coaching staff around, seeing five assistants leave, and at least three involuntarily.

He added NFL veteran assistants in Vic Fangio and current Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason to boost the 2011 defense to No. 23 nationally. Going into 2018, he replaced Tim Drevno and Greg Frey with Ed Warinner, and shifted the responsibilities to add former Florida head coach Jim McElwain, Sherrone Moore and Al Washington."

"Wu's bias"

If only 0-51 and "Steve Kerr" weren't in his way. Alot of changes would have happened alot quicker.. History is showing how open to change he really is.. 🤔

True story, Pattern much when left alone to do his job?!?!?!

IF he ever comes back, he's coming back as a HC and GM. He needs total control of everything. He'll probably blow up his own heart doing it but he'll die doing what he loves most.
If JH were to come back to the NFL a team like Cleveland might be his best shot. A place where if he wins at any capacity he'll be a God. No offense, bounced in big games who cares it's Cleveland. The team also has sneaky talent and with his hard nose mentality he may be able to change the culture.
