This is the reality. If his ego would allow it he should just be hands off on O and D and just be the motivator HC. But he can't do that so Michigan will continue to play uninspiring offense against any team with a talent level in the neighborhood. They will go as far as the defense can carry them.
On top of that we had talent from top to bottom so that masked the stink of offense

How the hell does it take 25 seconds to snap the ball? Every... Single... Time...

On the final drive when Doug Flutie said "this is horrible clock management" I had a fleeting moment of PTSD
The same s**t that drove all of us nuts don't think Michigan will have the balls to fire harbaugh but he'll bolt on them when an nfl team comes calling
I'd say his bigger issue at UM is he hasn't gotten great backs/ o line. Kareem Walker was a bust. He just doesn't have the power run game he had here/ Stanford.

The biggest issue I saw is the OL. That appears to be the biggest weakness on their team by far. Notre Dame was working them with four man rushes. Imagine what Bosa and Ohio State will do to them?

Oh dude...so much PTSD.
Harbaugh is overrated AF and took over a talented ass team with us
Where's Wu?
Bad lost, offensive line issues. It's not the end of the road. A loss early is better than a loos late.

I expected more out of the defense giving up two touchdown drive early. That ejection was b******t by the refs.

Great win Evil.

Poor Wu. First, no Mack (outbid again Baalke-style), then McKinnon tears his ACL, and now, Harbaugh.

Someone PM him to make sure he knows we're still here for him, win or lose.

Thanks buddy..

Yea definitely bad performance and disappointments early season for both teams. No excuses. Have to get alot better play from the offensive line and defense gave up two touchdowns early. Welcome Alfred Morris and no pass rush.. 😤

Tarik Black foot
McKinnon Acl

Have to get better before the Big Ten games.

I'll eat crow. Horrible performance. Hopefully Shea and the tackle position gets better.

17 straight road losses against ranked opponents. Looks like the honeymoon is over.

Biggest difference between Notre Dame and Michigan on Saturday? Coaching

The Wolverines showed a general lack of discipline Saturday, committing three personal fouls. They set up illegally on a punt. Holder Will Hart dropped a snap on a field-goal try, jarring memories of punter Blake O'Neill dropping a snap in that shocking loss to the Spartans.

Do Harbaugh's players lack ability? No.

Focus in big games? Absolutely.

Safety Josh Metellus got ejected for targeting, going helmet to helmet after Irish tight end Alize Mack left his feet to make a sensational catch. Metellus' replacement, Brad Hawkins, mistimed a jump that allowed Chris Finke to haul in a 43-yard touchdown pass.

Chase Winovich later hit Wimbush late on a third-and-goal incompletion, extending a drive.

"Mistakes were made," Harbaugh said.

Harbaugh's postgame press conference was largely a waste of time.

When I asked why his team keeps performing poorly in big games, he spoke of "good old-fashioned resolve" and said, "we can be a very good football team."

Michigan's Jim Harbaugh all hype until he wins a big one

One of these days Jim Harbaugh is going to win at the end of the game, on a national stage, against a ranked opponent, on the road.

Or, maybe one of these days he won't.

Until he does, he'll remain more hype than anything else.

At this point, how can you argue otherwise?

On Saturday night in South Bend, against No. 11 Notre Dame, Harbaugh's Michigan Wolverines looked unprepared and overamped, unable to create running room for its backs or a reliable pocket for its promising new quarterback — Shea Patterson — in a 24-17 loss at Notre Dame Stadium.

And that's got to change.

As do the penalties and the personal fouls and the disjointedness that looked like they carried over from last year.

Michigan football hasn't improved and it is Jim Harbaugh's fault

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — For all the talk about Michigan's "new" offense under quarterback Shea Patterson, it looked awfully familiar and weak.

For all the talk about all the changes — the new coaches and new strength coach — the Wolverines had more cramps than touchdowns.

For all the talk about Michigan's "great" and "feared" defense — yikes, Notre Dame just scored again.

For all the talk about Michigan's "improved" offensive line — uh, no. Don't even go there.

And once again, Michigan couldn't beat a ranked team on the road. Stop me if that sounds like a broken record — that's 17 straight road losses against ranked opponents.

This, obviously, is on Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh. His preparation failed. His changes have yet to work. And Michigan isn't new and improved. It looked beaten and broken for most of the game, until a late push in the fourth quarter.

Jim Harbaugh is running out of distractions as Michigan drops another big game to a rival

SOUTH BEND, Indiana -- Hello, hot seat? Make room for one wacky, quirky, khaki coach who is running out of distractions.

Satellite camps? No longer a thing. Spring practice vacations to Europe? Oslo remains an option.

Chicken may be "nervous bird," but Michigan fans are becoming a nervous bunch. Or at least they should be.

They've been through this before with guys named Rodriguez and Hoke. Just in a different way. Those coaches were relatively easy to dispatch when things went sour.

Jim Harbaugh has his DNA invested in Michigan. And Bo Schembechler's is in Harbaugh. One was arguably Michigan's best-ever coach. Michigan fans have hoped Harbaugh would be the closest thing to it -- this generation's forever coach.

Following Saturday's 24-17 loss at Notre Dame, Coach Khaki is now 0-6 as an underdog. He is 8-8 in his last 16, now riding a four-game losing streak that goes back to last season. The last Michigan coach to lose four in a row was Rich Rod. That was nine years ago.

Wojo: Wolverines weren't ready for Irish, and that's on Harbaugh

South Bend, Ind. — Clunk, clunk, clunk. Michigan went on the road again in search of an identity, in pursuit of a big-game turnaround. Instead, another clunker, another night when the Wolverines wavered in the heat.

Jim Harbaugh's team didn't look ready. Don Brown's defense looked crazed and confused. Michigan hung around after an awful start, but that's not good enough, not nearly good enough in Harbaugh's fourth season. Notre Dame outplayed and outsmarted Michigan in a tedious 24-17 victory Saturday night, in which the Fighting Irish made the big plays and the Wolverines made the big mistakes.

Jim Harbaugh's offense still flat and Shea Patterson won't fix it

A year after making sizable off-field changes, Michigan's offense is still saddled with the same batch of issues that put this team at No. 105 nationally in total production a year ago.

Michigan rushed for 58 yards on 33 carries, it gave up seven tackles for loss, three sacks and mustered a whopping 4.04 yards per play through the first three quarters. Roughly a third of the team's 249 passing yards came in the game's final five minutes.

More of the same. With similar results.

Harbaugh's now 8-8 in his past 16 games and has now dropped four straight, thanks almost entirely to an offense that has zero zip.

Michigan's opening dud feels like the beginning of the end for Jim Harbaugh

After the latest offensive debacle — another Harbaughcle, if you will — the Wolverines have their first four-game losing streak since the Rich Rodriguez Era and the 2009 season. Nobody in maize and blue has ever wanted to put Harbaugh and Rich-Rod in the same sentence, yet here we are.

You might have thought Brady Hoke Era was bad, and you'd be right — but at least Hoke never lost four in a row. Harbaugh now has.

Michigan ended the 2017 season being handled by Wisconsin and Ohio State, and upset in the Outback Bowl by South Carolina. Now it has begun the 2018 season with a puny performance against Notre Dame, losing 24-17 Saturday night.

Afterward, Harbaugh characterized it thusly: "It's a beginning for us. We're not treating it like the end."

It feels like the beginning of the end.

As it stands right now, Harbaugh is too big for his khaki britches. Huge salary, lots of posturing, dwindling returns. Take spring practice to Rome and satellite camps to Florida; have sleepovers with recruits; withhold rosters and depth charts like they're classified state department documents; do all that and you'd better back it up on the field.

Instead, Harbaugh is leaking credibility.

There will be opportunities to regain it this season. In that respect, he's right — it's not the end. But this is trending the wrong way.

You have every right to criticize.

It was a tough game. They have to get better. The offensive line and Qb play needs to get better.

"SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Michigan football team gave up just 302 total yards to Notre Dame. It allowed 24 points, 21 of which came in the first half."
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.freep.com/amp/1179861002

The defense didn't play well in the first. At all. We had plenty of opportunities but the offense has to get better. The defense tightened up in the second half. They only allowed 302 total yards but the Irish made the big plays.

The offense has to get better with Shea.

Thinking Harbaugh's offense will be better with a different qb. Well that sounds familiar 🤔

The tackles were getting beat bad. Our oline is the weakest point. We have a very young oline. No excuses, they were getting pressure consistently..

But the offensive line can get better as the season progresses. They have to in order to contend.

"Michigan football reactions: Offensive line softer than toilet paper"

Like Phoenix mentioned, Our offensive line is the problem, they are super young so there is room for improvement to grow throughout the season. I hope they can gel quickly.

The d's issue is UM's typical problem of struggling with an athletic qb. That won't put up again to OSU. The line and rushing attack has to improve though because JH is never going to win passing the ball.
