QB recruit rankings mean little

Means the guy has a skill set. Shouldn't need an all time qb prospect when you are a qb whisperer anyway.
Yea as a Michigan fan I've just came to the conclusion that our coaching staff is jut middle of the road. The offensive scheme is dreadful in 2018. And again we still don't have a big time qb. Patterson played a pretty terrible game vs O State. He's so dam short

You remember how irrelevant Michigan was pre-Harbs? You guys taking it for granted just like Jed did

Harbs is 38-13 at Mich

Hoke was 31-20, and finished ranked once

Rich Rod: 15-22, never ranked.

So 7 years without Harbs: 46-42, .523 win percentage. Finished ranked once

With Harbs, .608 win percentage and will finished ranked 3 out of 4 years

Thanks for the context. Harbs had a solid year, and will keep this team relevant long term.

Guy is a walking legend. I miss that dude

Yup, I'll take three 10 win seasons in four years compare to Hoke and Rich Rod era.

Rich Rod and Hoke never had to face the level of talent Jim Harbaugh is facing.

Michigan needs speed.

Everyone saw it. Michigan couldn't match up and when the injuries came. Game was over.

Michigan doesn't have 5 stars sitting on the bench waiting like the elite schools. Once Bush, David Long and Shea Patterson got hurt, it was a wrap as far as competing.

Harbaugh needs more years of solid recruitments. Rich Rodriguez set this program back 10 years.

You cannot coach 4.3 speed.

And you're happy with the level jim has the team at, but as you said, unwilling to compete with the top programs in college football? Honest question.

Yes because I have no choice considering or looking at the past 15 years of Michigan's history and where it's at now. Michigan is relevant again.

Looking back where Michigan was before him, I believe he needs years of recruiting. It was huge stealing Dax Hill from Saban to be Michigan center fielder at safety next year but I know Michigan needs more talent on the bench.

Recruiting the level of speed needed will take time. Rich Rodriguez era destroyed Michigan for years..

The recruiting is just kicking up now. I mean I rather compete and try to get recruits with speed than the previous regimes that never faced this competition.

It's tough but until Michigan gets faster it won't happen, unless Michigan wins the recruits won't come.

It's a slow process unfortunately. I thought we had it this year but that speed, Michigan simply doesn't have and you cannot coach up a player to 4.3,4.4 speed.

You either got it or you don't and Michigan looks slow compare to those elite teams. I am happy with the 10 win seasons and being relevant but this team needs to get faster desperately.

Jim has been there 4 years with 3 years of recruiting. It's going to take more considering the roster just got to 90% of his talent and Michigan doesn't have speed on either side.

4.3,4.4 speed I mean.

I'm not a huge Michigan fan, but I feel like Jim has done what he's needed to do at Michigan. Not great, not bad. Just good so far. I think the pressure for him is the following:
  • He must win Big 10 in next 2 years; thereafter he will need to win Big 10 once every 3 years
  • He must beat Ohio State next year (unless they are a NC team); he will need to maintain a roughly .500 record against them here from here on out
  • He must win a NC in 4 years

Rich Rod at Michigan was one of the most destructive tenures in the past 20-30 years lol

As amusing as it is to watch the Harbaugh-ites show some humility because he's not the legendary coach he's hyped up to be, they're not that far away.

They need to start recruiting the types of athletes the Alabama's, the OSUs of the world recruit.

They can't compete with those teams athletically. As has already been said, this isn't 1997. This isn't John Cooper vs Lloyd Carr. The game has evolved. Even Nick Saban has turned over play calling to his OC. They run an uptempo, pass 1st offense.

This is what I saw when looking at Michigan this season, too, and why I argued with you with respect to Clemson. Now my boys at Clemson had a terrible defensive performance Saturday night that I regard as an anomaly (still won by 21 and were never really challenged due to 750 yards of offense lol), but it wasn't because we didn't have speed and size all over the field. When you look at Clemson's offense, they are LOADED with young talent and height/speed/athleticism at QB/WR/RB. Trevor Lawrence, all homer takes aside, looks like an athletic version of Peyton Manning who can actually run like a deer at 6'6" with an NFL gun, and he's throwing to frisbee catching dogs like Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross while handing the ball off to a homerun threat in Travis Etienne with freaky acceleration and power. Moreover, their bench is loaded with similar type athletes and their recruiting class is loaded with the same.

I just don't see those types of athletes on Michigan's roster across the board, and I didn't think they would fare well matching up with more stereotypical southern teams. I still actually love Harbaugh and hope he does develop his program to be able to compete with Urban.

They are that far away though because he won't admit that there is a problem. His ego is his biggest flaw. He's gonna double down on his style now with everyone calling for a change.
