Every single team in the league passed him up 4 times.

Baldwin was undrafted.
Every single team in the league passed him up 7 times.

Owen was a 4th round pick and the 9ers picked him up as a FA his 3rd year in the league, then he decided to retire.

Well, it makes sense from a point that he had these guys on his team. Logic would dictate he should have known what they were capable of.

How do you know where Trent had Sherman on his draft board? Maybe he had him as a 6-7 rounder? Go look at Sherman's draft grades. Projected avg was 6th round. How do we know if he wasn't drafted in the 5th the 9ers don't take him in the 6th? They did take a S and CB in the 6th and 7th rounds that year.

He made no effort to help either Baldwin or Sherman get noticed. He did however talk about how great a FB Marecic was and he was his favorite player. If the idea is he is this great talent evaluator shouldn't he, with first hand knowledge, known what these guys were capable of on the NFL level. That is what Wu says he'd be fantastic at.

He also loved Kap.

Sherman and Baldwin have both been very open about how they felt Harbaugh didn't value their talents. They would know better than the speculation that Jim wanted them but Trent overruled him.

There isn't a person on this planet that would convince me the 9ers would be better off right now with Harbaugh and Michael Lombardi. Colin would still be the 9ers QB.

If anything, the people Wu argues with enjoy the antagonistic relationship. Its why the same group of posters always come back when Harbs fails.

Jim was the HC of the 49ers. It wasn't his job to help any college player get noticed during the draft.

The 49ers had a group of veteran DBs in 2011. There was no need to reach on Sherm in that draft.
The 49ers had Ted Ginn. There was no need to draft Baldwin say in the 7th round.

People tend to forget how much a specific situation plays in the development of a player.

Lets say that Jim called every scout in the NFL and told them Sherm was the best DB in the draft.
He then gets selected in the 3rd round by a s**tty team with s**tty coaches.
He ends up sucking and is out of the league in 4 years.

Wow now Jim is still a looser that doesn't know talent. lol

just like the people in here saying Jim can't win a big game


Pretty sure Jim won a big game in his first year as the 49ers HC.
For a team to have missed the playoffs 8 straight seasons.
To beat the Saints on the "Catch III" was a big game.
Coach of the year as a rookie NFL HC was a big personal win.

Jim won 2 big games his 2nd year.
Beat the Packers and a road playoff win against ATL for a SB birth.

Year 3 he won 2 road playoff games to get to a 3rd straight NFCCG.

Any other HC ever done that before?

5-3 in the biggest of 49er games. Wow. Someone please let me know the next time the 49ers actually play a big game.

As for UM he can be my HC for the next 20 years. He can lose 20 big games in a row and I'd still love him.

Better to have loved and lost than to never have sniffed the f**king playoffs.
