How is he a "far" better coach than Shanahan? Shanahan had to rebuild a roster, something Harbaugh has yet to do in the NFL, and has coached teams to more conference championship games and Super Bowl appearances.

They're both good coaches, but I'll take Shanahan over Harbaugh. I can even understand someone preferring Harbaugh. But "far" better and "not close"? Those are silly assessments at best.

What captveg said. And the bold, agreed...all day, every day, and twice on Sundays.

Harbaugh won the CHAMPIONSHIP TWICE. University of San Diego Torreros (lower division level but he won there). Also Michigan obviously. National Championship. He built the Stanford program. They were garbage before the got there. Some road his coat tails after he built that. But he is the one who put them in BCS Bowl games and they weren't doing that before he got there. He got to NFC Championship Games and the Super Bowl with KRAP & AL_EXCUSES. That's actually incredible and should not be able to be done.

Shanahan never won anything. I doubt he ever will. He stacks up NFC Championship losses and Super Bowl losses. That's as far as it goes. It's his ceiling.

I don't consider college whatsoever when comparing NFL coaches. If I did I'd have to believe Urban Meyer is a better head coach than both Shanahan and Harbaugh, which is hilarious.

As NFL coaches go Shanahan currently has a better coaching record and neither of them are Super Bowl champions. By your logic neither of them will ever win it, because only those who have never lost it can win it. Guess Andy Reid is still 1-4 in conference championships and 0-1 in Super Bowls based on that logic...

Shanahan couldn't even coach you to the High School Championship. Just doesn't have it. He would CHOKE in the BIG GAME. Harbaugh has proven many times he can win the BIG GAME. That's the difference.

actually harbaugh has only won one of the many big games he's had.. but you like to be Nick wright

He's won a lot more than that. USD, Stanford, Michigan, 49ers.

Shanahan has won ZERO BIG GAMES. That's your guy.

he didn't win no ship with USD, Stan and 49ers lol

it took him 10 years to win with Mich..

Yeah he did win with USD. The Championship at that division level. Stanford was in BCS Bowl games and they were not relevant before him. He made the NFC Championship and the Super Bowl with KRAP & AL_EXCUSES. He's incredible.

Your box of rocks wants to be WRIGHT. But it's WRONG.
I'm sure SDWrong and 9moon share the same DNA. They both talk like they took multiple concussions as children

You count winning non-championship bowl games as "Big Games" for Harbaugh, but not NFL playoff games as "Big Games" for Shanahan, including twice winning one literally called the Conference CHAMPIONSHIP game?

Double standards much?

You can believe all the b******t you want. Just don't be so surprised when others tell you how much it reeks.

Also, in retrospect, Smith had a far better career than Garoppolo, and Kaep certainly played at a higher level in 2012-2013 than Garoppolo's top performances in 2019 & 2021. To say Harbaugh worked miracles with those QBs while ignoring that Shanahan did the same with Jimmy G. is, again, a blatant double standard.

Shanahan lucked out with Brock_STAR Purdy and he still can't win even with that.

Luck also robbed him of that QB at the end of one of the two seasons with Purdy.

Also, Mahomes/Reid Chiefs are 10x the challenge that the Flacco/Harbaugh Ravens were.

Common sense is lost on SD.

Kyle Shanahan would not call a fade pattern against Richard Sherman in his prime in the biggest.moment.

To recollection Justin Smith and Aldon Smith I believe were both injured at the exact wrong moment. The Super Bowl. In particular Justin Smith had a torn arm. Pretty sure Aldon Smith was also drunk or at least hung over. Anyway both were ineffective. Our pass rush was not the same. Flacco was throwing bombs. That really hurt us deep. We got in a big hole. Then came back. But came up short. I've always believed had our pass rush been healthy we had a real strong chance to win that game. Maybe even would have.

To those saying Mahomes yeah he's tough to beat. LOL. He is for everyone in the NFL. That doesn't change the fact that Shanahan CHOKED in 3 solid Super Bowls (counting Atlanta too). Plus multiple NFC Championship games.

Yeah. Like the 2011 NFCCG vs the sorry ass 9-7 giants. Putting Kyle Williams back to return punts again and again and again when he had already fumbled a reverse and the knee debacle. Real nice big game win.

or when Pete Carroll made him his b***h in the second half of the '13 championship game. Second straight year throwing a fade to Crabtree?

Harbaugh lost THE big game every year here.

I'll take Shanahan's modernized west coast offense over Harbaugh's dunderhead 1970s Bo Schembechler goal line offense.
