Sean Payton probably put a bounty on Alex Smith for Harbaugh not calling him before the preseason game

Peter King @SI_PeterKing
In my opinion, the penalties on this will be worse, and maybe significantly worse, than Spygate.

This Saints Bounty investigation is ugly to read and going to get uglier once the Commissioner rules. This is really bad.
Im so happy this is happening, I cant stand the Saints, especially their Coach and QB

RT @ClemPalevich: Does Gregg Williams face any discipline now that he is with Rams? ... Yes. I expect the punishment to be significant.

I never understood why this is a big deal, Buddy Ryan did it decades ago. Regardless of bonuses, isn't the defense trying to do this any way?

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
A safe prediction: Saints will be disciplined far worse than the Patriots were for Spygate.

Gabe Feldman @SportsLawGuy
I know it wasn't league-imposed, but if Tressel had to sit out 6 games, what does Williams get for the Bounty?

well, a bounty would mean they are intentionally trying to hurt other players and we all know how goodell feels about player safety

This is what happened to the Patriots for spygate
The NFL says it has fined Bill Belichick the NFL maximum of $500,000, the Patriots $250,000 and ordered the team to give up next year's first-round draft choice (if it reaches the playoffs) because New England spied on the Jets defensive signals. If the Patriots don't make the playoffs they have to give up second- and third-round picks in April. Does the punishment fit the crime?

Right, this is an image thing more than anything else. "Promotion of violence", and all that.
