Yea. What a dumbass move. I know there aren't good QBs available but there's absolutely no way he was the best one on the street. You could've plugged in some practice squad QB from another team and done better.

He did complete a few short throws and seemed like he might be functional in the short game. Maybe even get better as the game went on. Oh well, that fumbled snap was a bad look.

It was junior league. Fumble the snap, okay fine, just fall on the ball. We didn't even need that possession, we could have gone into half. When he didn't even fall on the ball right, that's when we all knew, we are dead in the water here.

He actually did have the ball in his hands but one of the defenders pushed or kicked it out. He was on his stomach and couldn't really get to the ball after that. He should have never dropped it. The snap was perfect.

We all saw it. He didn't fall on it. He tried to scoop and play on. You don't do that. Just fall on the ball.

Joshua effing Johnson. One of his arms almost suffered the Liz Shannahan injury when he reached for the ball. 😬😬

It doesn't matter. Can you imagine if we barely eeked out a win with Josh Johnson vs the Eagles. We would have gotten slaughtered in the SB and become a laughing stock going from 5-0 to 5-3 in the big game. It truly was over when Brock went down.

With that said, this is why you should avoid these very old journeyman QBs that have no business being in the league…
Gotta imagine they replace him with Darnold next year.

Maybe Jimmy G would've been back? Could've been an epic story if so and he was able to pull out the victory.

I can see that. Darnold will be cheap. He was okay for the Panthers once Baker & P.J. Walker was benched

Except the last time Jimmy made a comeback, he stepped out of the end zone and we lost by one point. It's much more likely that a Jimmy comeback would have resulted in an EPIC failure vs the Chiefs and we'd be going back to Santa Clara having lost to the Chiefs TWICE in the same year….both teams led by JimmyG.

Our route to number 6 went down with Brock's arm…

I'd rather go after Andy Dalton. He was at one point the franchise QB of the Bengals and they had a decent team for one year with him being their leader. Andy can still play, and would have been a much more serviceable backup than Josh Johnson was
How in the world has Johnson been in the league for 13 years and play soooooo terrible and look so lost? Its crazy how a kid can step on the field and have more of an understanding and ability than a guy like Johnson is more athletic, more experienced and should have a much better understanding, yet just chits the bed.

What's worse is, Lynch and Kyle thought he was the guy we needed when the Super Bowl was on the line.

Since your post got lost in the Lance there, I'll post the response here.

If you're being genuine with your question... I have a question for you.

Let's just say Brock's first NFL action wasn't during the season.... but lets say his first real NFL action was coming in for Jimmy G, after Jimbo got injured against the #1 ranked Eagles pass rush. And on Purdy's second snap, Jennings and the TE let Reddick get a free run on a playaction pass... and by the time Purdy turned around from the Playaction, Reddick drilled him hard (like what happened to Josh Johnson).

And now his welcome to the NFL moment is happening against Eagles IN Philly, at the NFL Championship game.

How would Purdy look? We saw how Purdy looked against the Cowboys, and that was after starting many games in a row. More so than Josh has ever in his career. Brock did what he had to do vs the Cowboys and we won the game. But would a Brock getting his first NFL action of the season vs the Eagles in the NFC Championship game play that much better than the Brock vs Cowboys?

I just don't think so. As much as I feel comfortable/calm as s**t with Brock at QB, that's just a tall order.

Brock had 6 NFL starts going into that Eagles game. Josh Johnson has had 10 total starts in his whole career... all spread out.

Nice rationalization but Josh Johnson just stinks and Purdy is good. He's not a good QB now and never was. He probably wasn't even the best of the FAs/Practice Squad QBs available but KS picked him because he knew him. That was a bad choice.
Bottom line dude should retire. He was beyond unprofessional with his lack of preparedness. f**k this guy.

Gotta be realistic. If we get a vet QB he has little chance of being more than the #3 PS dude. No way Dalton goes for that, man.
Josh still got both a higher completion percentage and passer rating then Lance did this season. Says a lot...
