Greg Roman isn't as great as people think. Didn't run the ball (their bread and butter) enough again, like the Minn game.
Alex Smith failed today, but he isn't going to win games passing over 300 yds in shoot outs every game for you, so DON'T TRY and DON'T EVEN GO THERE TO BEGIN WITH.
Defense was decent but wasn't great. The coaching staff really needs to figure out what the offense is good at and to me that's running the ball to setup the pass, else they will NOT be going to the SB, might not even make the NFCC. That Kaper crap stuff doesn't work when you're behind, don't play cute it won't get you anywhere. HE ISN'T READY to take over, NOT EVEN CLOSE. Coaching staff should have made the team know this is a HUGE revenge game, should have let Brandon Jacobs play. He was ready and willing to run run run down the NYG's throat but nope, let's pass more and shoot it out rofl... Bottom line, if the 49ers Don't run the ball 20-30x a game, they will not win the game. Why do you bring in Brandon Jacobs, draft James in 2nd rd and Gore and Hunter is doing great while the o-line was built for running more than passing, BUT DON'T RUN THE BALL?!? So SAD. Harb and company really need to take a look in the mirror and get this crap fixed, stop trying to get cute with the passing game, it's not there. Alex Smith is not that kind of QB and the WR crop is improved, but not as much as they think.
After the 2 big wins the past 2 weeks, some people said Greg Roman might get a HC job after this season. He looked good as the OC against 2 weak teams the past 2 weeks. But against good teams he proved to come up short. NFCC, 1 catch for 3 yds with the WRs, this game going pass and not sticking to the strength of the team running the ball. I don't know if it's all Roman calling the plays on offense, but I think this guy needs to go. If they don't run the ball 20-30x a game, they have no chance.
Oh this is not the 1st time, as they did the exact same thing in the Minn game. No doubt 49ers has improved since last year on offense, the problem is the play calling, not running the ball enough.
Gore 4.5 avg more than Bradshaw 4.3, and Hunter 6.5 avg, but guess what? Bradshaw 27 rushes 116 yds and 1 TD. Gore and Hunter combined only 12 rushes. Greg Roman needs to be replaced. If he gets a Head Coaching job next year, good riddance go lead and fail some where else, but I doubt he will get anything. Dude failed, AGAIN just like the Minn game. He looks more like a manager at some fast food place than a NFL OC...

If you loo at most of out big plays they're on first down. We need to not turn into the Falcons of last year and Run the ball. That being said, we need to push the ball down field and make teams pay for playing so close to the line of scrimmage.

Jim Harbaugh: "The plan wasn't the best plan. It wasn't a great day for any of us." #49ersTalk
Wonder who he's talking about and who came up with the "plan"? It was very clear it wasn't working, they STILL ran that Kapernick stuff even though they were behind... LOL pathetic...

"Kaepernick s**t" don't work when you're behind.
"Kaepernick s**t" don't work when you keep shuffling your starting QB in and out.

this!
Alex hits Moss for a 55 yard deep ball and quiets the Giants fans....
says hey lets put CK in and let his inexperience ruin the drive. Boom CK gets sacked and kills the drive.

Roman is being blammed, but ultimately the blame falls on coach. He needs to realise what is going on with the chemistry on offense and either veto plays or let roman know exatly how he is going to call the game. Time for him to take charge of his team. Sometimes to muh creative freedom within an offense is a bad thing.

"I have a lot left in me," Ault said. "I'm in my offensive prime. I feel good about where I'm at. My energy level is still very high. Whether I coach again, I don't know."
Ault is an innovative offensive mind who created a modified shotgun offense that he calls the "pistol," and he has a lot of admirers among the NFL coaching ranks. Those admirers include 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who traveled to Nevada to learn from Ault and has started employing a lot of Ault's concepts in the 49ers' offense, run by one of Ault's former quarterbacks, Colin Kaepernick.

We hired Paul Wulff after Washington State fired him, he is now a "Senior Offensive Consultant" or something of that nature. At minimum I could see Ault being hired in a similar capacity but at the same time I wouldn't bat an eyelash if we made him OC, especially because we apparently have 3 play callers already. Roman with running game, WR coach Morton with the passing game, QB coach Chryst with red zone plays.

LOL....I really wish that was the only time he was out-coached, but it has become a regular occurrence now.

Good point. I forgot about that. We can only hope that he gets brought in if they plan to keep using the pistol. I would rather they didn't use it as much though.
