I agree fro...we should NOT expect a WCO here on any level (principals, execution, route-trees, QB mechanics, etc.). This is a Bo Schembechler offense predicated on the ground game and complimented by the passing game (e.g. the anti-WCO). That said, the goal is still the same for both...balance. And no I don't mean run and pass 50% of the time all the time. It means we can do either equally well depending on who we play/need. We can pass all game like GB or run all game like the Texans. The goal is to win.

But yeah, it's safe to say we aren't balanced in the passing game at the moment.

that is a poor excuse for all of the times, which have been well documented, he has gotten cute, stubborn, plain f**king stupid what ever you want to call it that has directly led to losses in games we had no business losing such as the two rams games last year, super bowl, colts this year and those are just a few examples. this is a good example of people who dare get critical of roman, JH, the quarterback whoever. there is a tendency to throw back the bad times or the bad coaches or the bad quarterbacks we had in our face. the past has nothing to do with legit critical comments of our present day coaches and players

Hes still the best offensive coordinator this team has had in a very long time.

If anything, he's consistent in that he's maddeningly inconsistent.

the shine has worn off his penis to me. people slobber all over him when he calls two good games in a row. he can never call three good games in a row because his ego or whatever it is gets in the way. i connect the lack of scoring touchdowns early vs the cards to romans playcalls. he then gets back on track with his long drive. I am sorry but that is the way he should be doing his job every time.who the f**k knows what he will do this sunday

Exactly what I wrote, you can go read again if you like. The guy is imaginative when designing plays but he's not great at the whole strategy things or situational calls, you know, like deep in the redzone at the end of the Superbowl, or games against St Louis last season, Minnesota, Seattle and Indy this season, he struggles to find ways to expose a defense most of a time and does little to get them out of their preferred alignments, much like in the Seattle game. So no, he may have a great offensive mind as far as the running game is concerned but that hardly makes you a good play-caller.

You mean a draw play on 3rd and long isn't a high probability play?

no matter who the quarterback has been for us in the last two plus years, we have struggled in the red zone to score touchdowns. different quarterbacks, same "results" even I can connect those dots and follow the trail to roman

jesus i forgot about that one sunday. but if you dare call him out on that, people will accuse you of wanting jimmy ray back. actually jimmy raye would have known to pound the rock on second and goal from the five but thats a whole other story

This. I like Roman too.

The "bring back the WCO offense" theme is an old man's argument. It brings nothing new to a discussion other than to make people reminisce of the past.

I like Roman too. My only gripe is that he has not shown an ability to adjust in-game strategy. He'll have a clear plan going into a game, but if it doesn't work, he does not scrap the original plan and go towards a different direction.

Myself and NCommand has mentioned the lack of WCO concepts, and you may be right, it may just be nostalgia that causes us to want the WCO. However, I truly believe that a WCO passing attack is the best type of offense there is, and it's not just because I'm a 49er fan and remember the glory days. It is a high percentage, effective way to control the clock using the passing game. If Harbaugh is about ball control, then the WCO can help achieve that. The passing attack right now is the opposite of ball control. It is an explosive passing game that picks up big chunks of yardage, effective in its own right.

Ideally, when Kap reaches his peak, whenever that may be, I'd like the offense to be adaptable and execute any type of passing attack. Use WCO passes to set up the vertical strike.

this"remember the decade of defeat" montra is becoming long in the tooth as well. that is always brought up when you dare call out the coaches and front office. i could care less what offense we run, east coast, west coast , whatever. we should play to the strengths of the team all the time, we should utilize our players the best that we can and after two plus years it should not take a unneeded ass kicking or embarrassing tie and /or over time loss for our offensive coordinator to wake up and call a good game. and when plays work like the run game,, do not run from it and start tossing the ball all over the place

not even about that.
its about doing logical things and stop trying to be cute.

until we actually use all of the personnel we do have (macdonald more baldwin more hunter way more james at least some) then he doesn't get a pass. there's no way to justify him not using these people to make the offense more dynamic, explosive, feared, productive

and we shouldn't be experimenting with our offense in the season. this is what 4 preseason games are for.

just my thoughts

its not about west coast offense. its about using the players you have.

why do we constantly use bruce miller in the tight end receiving portion when we have macdonald who is bigger and stronger and more explosive after the catch?

why do you run a screen with a short yardage back in dixon and not hunter?

how can't james even dress and get snaps?

these aren't crazy radical concepts

how with the two beast of tight ends we do have don't we have consistent sets for them in the red zone?

why is kyle williams still getting majority of the snaps at the 2wr spot when there hasn't been any point in his career indicating he deserves these snaps?
