That is with Derek Loville & Terry Kirby at RB
And for comparison: Mariucci's first year with Steve Young and Garrison Hearst, #5 in points #12 in yards.
He had a s**t load of talent obviously but those rankings still surprise me. My biggest memory is Eddie D firing his a55 at the press conference and the way he did it. Trestman had a bad rap with niner fans and media, so I will take those stats with a grain of salt... even though that was in the days of insanely high standards.
I'm even more surprised at the poll. Hiring him as an OC is one thing, but as a head coach?

Good for Trestman, glad he gets a shot. Did well in Canada if that means anything. Looking at it from a completely unbiased view (dont really care one way or another about the Bears) Basicly, they trade Lovie for Trestman? 10 wins this year. A few runs at the playoffs, loved by the team and the city for an unknown. From here, doesnt seem to make much sense, but then again, I dont own a football team. Hope they know what they are doing. If GB can fix its D and if Ponder gets better, with that aging D in Chicago, could be awhile before they can make a run, could be tough sledding for Marc.

Michael C. Wright @mikecwright
RT @ESPNChiBears: Heard Bruce Arians made a strong push last night before Trestman got the job. Arians went down swinging.#Bears.

Mike McCoy just got hired as a head coach, with basically 1/3 of the experience that Trestman has.
Trestman was the best candidate that the Bears could have hired, he's basically been everywhere and has done everything. People just don't want to give him his props because of the CFL stigma. He's a damn good coach and deserves his chance to be an NFL head coach finally.

Top ranked offense with no runningback...yeah he sucked so much.

I think they improve. Trestman is an absolute offensive genius. He was the first guy Harbaugh contacted for the 49ers OC position but all he wanted was a head coaching job. Trestman already knows Cutler as he trained him prior to the draft when Cutler was coming out of Vanderbilt. If that aging defense can hold up, the offense is going to light teams up, especially with lousy defenses like the Lions and Packers in their division.
Going to load up on some Bears players in fantasy football next season.

And your point is? Being a CFL coach isn't better than being the coach of Stanford. He had to start out at the university of san diego, but everyones gotta start out at the bottom and work their way up.

Zach Zaidman @ZachZaidman
Multiple sources tell WSCR that Rod Marinelli will not be #Bearsdefensive coordinator under new head coach Marc Trestman.

Yeah really, why was that Kurt Warner guy stocking boxes and playing Arena League Football, why else would he have done that if he didn't suck?
Trestman went to the CFL because he wanted to be a head coach, he had offensive coordinator position offers every single season and every single season he turned them down.
