It's the cover-up....admitting that you used Adderall comes off a lot more PR friendly than saying you were caught dropping steroids.

Right. NFL privacy rules prohibit the test results from being released. Agents and teams have to make a statement though because people ask. So they say Adderall, which is the least Taboo PED on the list.

It's pretty safe to assume that it's straight up steroids. Adderall can mask steroid detection in drug tests.
