Surprised he's not appealing it with some lame excuse, worked for his other cheating teammate:
Sherman tested positive because he was kissing Browner.

They are not allowed to reveal the actual results. It just sounds better when they say Adderall. Adderall is not a masking agent.
It can dilute various steroid metabolites, but not to a degree where it would prevent you from being tagged if you were taking steroids. Not sure why people keep referring to it as such. I think many see players getting busted for Adderall and assuming its a cover for something else.....and it is, but not as a masking agent. It's just way more PR friendly to say you were taking Adderall than claim you were taking steroids or other PED's.
If they were taking steroids then why would it be reported they were taking Adderall? If an athlete is busted for steroids, it's going to get reported. They don't get an option to cover it up and preserve their image by saying they were busted for Adderall. I don't see how that would work. Unless the NFL is trying to save some face with less guys getting busted for steroids and they're the ones covering it up.

Because there has to be an official statement. You can't just not comment on it. People will think the player is doing steroids etc...
Adderal is a study drug and doesn't help physically so it protects the reputation. The NFL is not releasing these reports. They are not allowed to. It is private. The teams and players choose to.

I don't think anyone said Adderall, I think people are just assuming because of his cryptic tweet. If it's confidential information, can't he say whatever he wants?

Actually what I bolded above is exactly what happens.
The NFL can't make any statement in regards to a drug test, whether a played failed for steroids or something else, the NFL can't release that information. Usually the player or his agent will make a statement, and no matter what they got dinged for, they will claim it was Adderall. That obfuscation works for both sides, it helps preserve both the NFL's and the player's reputations since Adderall is not remotely as controversial as steroids are.
Bottomline, the player can say they were busted for whatever they want to claim, and there is no other information that will be released to counter it, nor will the NFL come back to correct what a player has said. It is written into the new CBA.

Oh ok. I thought the NFL was releasing the reports. So the players and teams just release the report to explain why the player is being suspended by the NFL? It just doesn't seem right to get busted for steroids and this information is never released to the public. And it doesn't seem right that an athlete can flat out lie on why they are being suspended. If you take part in such illegal activity, you shouldn't be allowed to withhold your image. You should be exposed for the cheater that you are.

Well, the new CBA specifically prohibits that. That's one major reason why in the NFL, a league filled with guys that are like 6'4", 250, all muscle, getting busted for Adderall almost every single time and never anabolic steroids.

Thanks for clearing that up. That is pretty weak. If you cheat, I think you should be exposed. I guess baseball is a little different then because we've heard all kinds of things about players getting busted for steroids.
